A little of everything for each age group and for each type of group. With the modern technology of email you could email your guests and ask for 5 songs from each to play at your reception. For the older generation make quick phone calls and ask them in person, I think they would find this more appealing then email. After that give the list to your dj and they will do thier magic. Have fun! Congratulations!

we are starting out with the basic father-daughter, wedding party, anniversary dance and so on. Then we will do some old rock and new pop. After dinner we are going to start playing the electric slide, chicken dance, things to get ppl up and having a good time. I'd say its ur wedding play whatever you like.

I think you can chose some songs but allow your guest to request and let the reception to take on its own feel . you can have a do not play list for songs you find offensive so you do not offend the older generation I find that a nice mix of songs those from you grandparents era . parents and those that you grew up with finds that the dance floor hops more often with a wide variety of guests dancing .

Ha ha! I was going to say Glenn Miller, but someone beat me to it.

Also, ABBA seems to get people up dancing.
