Assuming your son is not an adult you need to get that password right now.
Once you get it you need to do the following:
Get a Net Nanny program that tracks what he does:
Net Nanny
Cyber Patrol
CyberSitter
Are some of the options. Look and each one and see what they monitor and how you can control it.
These will monitor and block. To just block certian sites I use settings in my Norton Intranet program.

In spite of the virtual nature of the internet, it actually can be a rather dangerous place to hang out. Just in your brief statement, you've alluded to two things that internet safety experts warn parents vehemently against:
1) Don't let them have their own computer in their own bedroom.
2) Have a very open computer policy.
You need to know what he is doing online, and he needs to know that you need to know. In other words, you should learn about the dangers of the internet and warn him of them. You should make sure he is aware of all safe practices. And you should make sure that he knows that you'll monitor his activity (using *his* password!)
I recently asked a question about how to protect our children from the internet. See the link below for some great suggestions!
Personally, I don't believe you should go to either extreme as others might suggest. That is, you shouldn't spy on his account, and you shouldn't ignore him and let him do anything he wants without any accountability. The perfect middle road is for you to both understand that there will be an open door policy.

call your internet service provider they will give you a list of ways to track your child's things on the internet. their is also a blackbook built into all computers that tell you what inappropriate sites the computer has been on just in case you need that one too. to access that you need to contact your isp to get the code since i haven't used it in a while so i forgot it.

Do NOT hack into his account. Geesh, do you have any respect for his privacy? How would you like it if he hacked your e-mail and started reading all your convos? A little invaded? I would say just ask him. Ask him what sites he hangs out on, and asks him to show you around. Or just ask him his username and his favorite site and go to check him out yourself. He'll understand that you're curious, and will probably be happy to show you around and show you his online friends.

Download Spector Pro to his computer. He'll never know it's there, and it gives you info on everything he doing, saying, or looking at on that computer.

be a parent and ask.. no wonder kids are the way they are today, parents in general need to put their feet down and interrogate kids and teens like they used to. the world wasn't half as bad then than it is now.
