The difference is that your body's weight is made up of fat, muscle, bone, ligaments, tendons, organs, fluids, etc.

You can lose weight by losing fat, or losing muscle, or losing an organ, or losing bone mass.

If you lose 1 pound of fat, and don't gain anything in some other area, then that pound of fat is a pound of lost weight. Generally, however, when people train, they tend to gain some muscle mass while they are losing fat. So, they arelosing some weight in fat and gaining some weight in muscle, and if you lost 5 pounds of fat, but gained 1 pound of muscle, then you have lost 4 pounds.

That's it.

Losing weight is not the same as losing fat, because you can also lose muscle and water weight. Losing weight doesn't make you healthy, but lowering your body fat percentage does. It is also a case of adding more muscle mass, not just losing body fat.

Losing 1lb of weight is still 1lb, whether it is fat, muscle or water loss.

one way is when you lose weight by starving/depriving your body - it loses water weight and muscle and slows down metabolism, as soon as you start eating again you will gain back more than lost and end up having higher body fat percentage.
if you lose weight healthy way - which is not more than 1-2lbs a week, by eating enough and exercising you are losing fat and its not gona just come back. to achieve this you have to change your eating habits (which got you were you are in the first place).

Do your food shopping with a list and a period of time limit; that way, you're not as likely to stray into the processed foods section.

Don't confuse being thirsty with hunger. Drink a glass of water when you feel hungry to see if that's what you're really craving.
