I personally am not a religious follower and have nothing against homosexuallity, or for that matter catholics. However, I do find it interesting how many catholics, and indeed churches, have no objection to it even though the bible clearly makes reference to it being "wrong".

Maybe the organized christian religions make such a big deal over homosexuality because they don't want to face up to bigger problems within the churches like corruption or other sins of the members. Gays are an easy group to pick on because you can go to church, listen to the preacher wax lyrical about how gays will go to hell, and at the same time feel good about yourself because you aren't gay, (but maybe at the same time, you are embezelling funds out of the accountancy firm you work for)...
Oh, and my best friend is gay.

Created in the image of the one God and equally endowed with rational souls, all men have the same nature and the same origin. Redeemed by the sacrifice of Christ, all are called to participate in the same divine beatitude: all therefore enjoy an equal dignity.

The Catholic Church believes there is nothing sinful about being homosexual. But homosexuals like all unmarried people are called to celibacy.

The Church specifically says that homosexuals "must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided."

With love in Christ.

Religions don't tend to be as strict as they were, some people still are head strong religious followers. However modern day catholics, Christians etc. don't tend abide by everything that is taught in the bible. Like for example Muslims aren't supposed to drink alcohol and meat but some do. (I think they're not supposed to, don't hold your breath over whether its right or not). So lets just say religions tend to be more relaxed.

See, thats the problem with religion.

All you xians say that the bible decree's the 'rules' for numanity to follow, ie what morals are right and wrong. Then, you go choosing which to follow (for example, not killing people because they do certain things, not raping young girls and boys [well some do, they are REAL bible bashers]). So, clearly, if you pick which morals to follow out of the bible, then you know that YOU pick your own morals, and we do NOT need the bible to pick them for us. The way I see it, you have two choices: 1. Completely agree with the bible, kill all gays and people that work on sundays, rape young girls and boys, etc etc, or 2. Dont agree with the bible, and accept that we humans have in inate ability to pick our own morals, and we will follow them. That way, we will also be able to accept gays, and can work on sundays, and even PUNISH those who rape young children! Wont that be good, finally they will be repremanded.

My bible, my Catholic Answer Bible, tells me that God has created those with strong homosexual tendencies, however they are called to be single.

It is difficult to grasp, that they can't get married, but it is what we believe.

Oh and we, Catholics, don't shut our door on anyone, not even the man who shot the late Pope John Paul II in attempted murder (he eventually converted during the Pope's visitation)

A true Christian would not promote sin of any kind, it does not mean they would attack or hate the sinner. We all have sin in our lives, from the youngest to the oldest we are all sinners.

Churches must point out the truth in the Word of God and help people to see their sin and strive to turn away from it and to God. I have invited homosexuals to Church so that they could know and understand that they live in sin and call it lifestyle. I do not hate them, I am no better than they are, but I do not call my sins anything but sin and I do not promote them or try to say they are o.k.,.

To answer your question, you can call yourself a catholic and not be a Christian so I am sure you can call yourself anything and still promote anything.

The invoice does no longer take care of homosexuals from being careworn or discriminated adversarial to. What it does is makes assaulting a gay a federal crime. Now, allow me ask something of everyone who helps this invoice. If someone beats the snot out of you, mutilates your body, and then drags you at the back of their truck for quite a few miles, does that advise they love you? for sure no longer. ALL violent crimes are hate crimes. that incorporates sexual attack, too. this is all hatred. If someone become to do all that to me, they'd be prosecuted to the completed volume of the regulation... even though it does no longer be a federal crime. yet when i turned right into a lesbian? all of unexpected that's a "hate crime", and a federal crime. this is stupid to make that vast distinction. for sure this is incorrect to triumph over someone basically because they ensue to be of a diverse sexual orientation, faith, gender, or race. yet is it any a lot less hateful to attend to a immediately white male an same way that homosexuals were dealt with? for sure no longer, yet that would not count number as a hate crime. What if the immediately white male become beaten because he become immediately, white and/or male? Is it a "hate crime"? Nope. rather of hate crime legislations, perchance we ought to continually objective for revamping the judicial device altogether, and impose harsher punishments for individuals that attack others, regardless of their race, faith, sexual orientation, or gender. attack is continuously incorrect, no remember who this is in the route of, and this is continually hate.

As far as I can tell Catholics move the goal posts to suit themselves. Can the pope call himself a Catholic and shield paedophiles?

Possibly because they blur the difference between sin and sinner in the interest of getting along...

But it might be interesting to see what happens if you try to arrange a 'gay marriage' through a Catholic church. Good luck with that!

Homosexual sex is considered a sin in the Catholic Church, but the Church does understand and accept people with homosexual tendencies.

Peace!
