Hello
I am a Christian and a man of science.
The people I have to work the hardest against are... Christians
How to deal with other christians, especially the ones in the US ? (I never have any trouble with followers of Jesus in other countries).
-------------------
I dedicate my life at mitigating global warming since it is the field where I can do the most to help other people, especially the weak ones (poor countries). I know... its like the work of mother Theresa bringing milk to Bangladesh while the dutch engineer comes to build dykes... one is more visible, the other is crucial, both are useful.
I could have used my business and science knowledge for army or weapons business instead... so please respect my work, I truly try to help other humans on a rational basis.

That is EXACTLY WHAT I AM SPEAKING ABOUT...
And when I DO THE MATH and present my calculations, people are still denying it.

REALLY REALLY TIRED !!!!
For somebody who could not believe GW could increase the sea temperature...
------------------------------------------------
The radiative forcing compared to the normal pre industrial level is: 1.5 W/m²
Lets try the calculation on a linear basis for a segment of ocean, just the 10 upper meters for a section 1m x 1m : 10m³ which are 10 tons
Mwater=10,000Kg
Heat capacity at 1bar and close to: 1KJ/Kg.C
Temperature to increase: 1°C
E=dT*m*C=1°C*10,000*1,000=10^7 Joules
Radiative forcing 1,5W
Time needed to provide this energy:
Time=Energy/Power=10^7 / 1,5 = 666,667sec
And change it in years: 2 years
Once again, the temperature change of oceans is well documented in California where 1°C increase displaced 90% of the

It's not so much the Christians against the Greenies, it's the fact that Christians tend to be critical thinkers and as a result they don't just buy into every piece of hype that flows from Al Gore and the other radical environmentalists. The science isn't behind global warming. That's the main reason people don't believe it. Then you go further and realize that it's not an environmentalist movement, it's an economical/political movement. There's no science behind it. So why does it flourish? Several reasons. One is that it is one of the major topics of government grants. So professors and research organizations dream up catastrophic global climate scenarios then bilk the government out of cash to do the research. It also is seen as a way for socialism and communism to punish capitalism -- making global man-made climate change the natural outcome of rampant capitalist success. Etc. So it's not about Christians vs. Al Gore, it's about people with brains vs. the hordes. Like usual. But be of good cheer; if history has taught us anything it's that the hordes usually win.

OK.
So what was the question?
You might wanna take a second look at that whole global warming thing.... "scientists" and Christians alike have been predicting the end of the world for many decades now, whether it be global warming or the Rapture.
My father told me about how, when he was in high school, scientists predicted that global warming would occur in the 80's. After college, they claimed that the world would plunge into an Ice Age around the year 2000. And today, global warming activists are claiming that the earth will become a huge microwave oven in 20-50 years.
Funny that- global warming proponents can't seem to make up their minds about whether we'll be hot or cold.
*edit* All right. Now please clarify how Christians are endangering the earth. Do they just criticize you or deliberately *stop* you from working on global warming? If it's the former, I'd say you have nothing to be upset about.

Are you working against something that we can't control? Are you preaching to a group that understands the big picture and not Al Gore's "Indoctrination" (His words.)
Fact: The earth is getting warmer.
Fact: We don't know why for sure, but we probably did cause it.
Fact: The earth goes through cycles of warming and cooling completely separate of modern day pollution. It's been happening for thousands of years.
Fact: Mars and other planets are also rising in temperature, but they do not have SUVs.
Fact: Clinton did not sign the Kyoto Treaty, Bush followed. Al Gore stated while serving as V.P. that the US would not sign the Treaty until the bigger polluters of China and India signed too. (We only produce a fraction of the pollution they do, even if the US goes clean the earth will not change because our impact is so small.)
Fact: The Kyoto Treaty is too expensive to be effective and most of the countries that signed it are not even trying to meet the standards due to the financial drain.
Fact: Great Britain has spent the money and followed the Treaty, there has been no noticeable change there.
Fact: If that money was spent buying mosquito nets and medication instead of trying to meet ineffective standards more lives could be saved than changing the climate to reduce mosquito population.
Fact: Scientist do not know for sure that changing human behaviors will truly alter climate change.
Fact: More lives can be saved by using the same money to stop the Genocide and Slavery in the world than trying to stop Global Warming.
Fact: Christ said "Feed My Sheep" not "Save the Planet" One does have more value than the other.

Hi. I am a Christian from the USA. I live in California, the home of the Governator.
I like Global warming. It has brought down the price of Maple Syrup, and has revealed certain archaelogical and biological things that were hidden before. So I am seriously thinking that we need more ice melts so that we can see what is down there. Perhaps a lost civilization or two. That would be nice.
So whatever you do, please let Global Climate change to continue. I like waffles.
EDIT: I don't want help with Global Warming. It's not scarey. I like it. I hope it keeps happening, and I don't think that anyone can do anything about it. I hope that lots of things get covered with water, it would be a good thing. Less beachfront property is nice. I like it. It's probably not going to happen anyway, and even if it does, God is going to do worse in the Tribulation, so it's really nice that we are having something, but I wish people wouldn't be more afraid of that than they are God!

I have been studying Eskimos. In the early 1900's they had a problem with global warming. They could be caught out on a trip and be sleeping in their igloo and it would just suddenly start melting. They would try to travel on the ice and find there was no ice. Many died because they lost their shelter and their ability to hunt.
Today, vice-presidential loosers and others say we are doomed because polar ice is melting. I say what else is new.

First - you're awesome!! Taking care of creation is one of a Christian's top responsibilities (and greatest joys!)
Second - I believe the problem stems from a general lack of good education in the US. Christianity is only strong and well-represented if it is questioned now and then, and when real answers (testimony) are required, not just knee-jerk or rote stuff.
Keep up the good work!! Good luck!

Falwell-Robertson Christians have a busted moral compass that has them sleeping with corporations and standing against working people and the poor.
This is why Christians deny global warming...they are on their knees to those who profit from destroying the earth.
Is there a group any less Christian than Christians ?

What makes YOU think, feel and believe that YOU are NOT an "extremist"?
And you feel you are not because you happen to believe what others believe?
In any event, you would deal with christians (and others) on this (and other matters) in the same way....
...with data, facts, evidence, logic, thinking, reason, etc...
...and before you do, I would suggest that you visit the following URL/link to something called "Global Warming Enlightenment", and read the articles in Part One, and the 70+ quotes in Part Two...

There needs to be an honest spokesman in the US. Al Gore is questionable, and is two faced about everything he has ever said in the past. Why start believing him now? By default, you're safer taking the opposite view.
