Leg Spasms during pregnancy are due to the extra weight that the baby is putting on your legs and hips. I had spasms during my pregnancy. Then I started getting shooting pains in my legs at about 8 months. The dr. explained to me that the pressure of the baby on my hips and legs was causing sciatica pains. Do you have a small body frame? I do and that was part of the problem for me. I hope this helps! Blessings!!!

This is the first place your body targets when you are dehydrated. Drink lots of water! I recommend purified water and mineral water mixed 50/50. The mineral water is going to put back into the muscles what they are losing on a daily basis.
I suggest that adults and children drink 40 ounces of water per 100 pounds of body weight every day. Realize that exercise, ambient temperature, and state of health affect the water needs of your body.
In the evening take a hot bath with 2c. of dissolved Epsom salts and soak for 30 minutes. Afterwards , if you have something shaped like a cylinder and made out of hard material (think of a large rolling pin you would use for pizza dough or something) place it under your leg and push down and roll it back and forth...this should massage the spasms out of your leg. It will hurt while you're doing it, but more so the type of pain that actually feels good, in the long run.
500mg of calcium and magnesium will also help with leg spasms.
if you can get a massage on your legs that would help stop the constant spasms.

It's probably dehydration. When you are dehydrated and the sodium and potassium channels in the nerves short circuit making your muscles think that they need to contract then they do hence the spasm and twitching. As far as vitamins go prenatal vitamins should be covering you in that department unless you are not taking them.

There is nothing wrong with you. Its the working of your system that constantly takes nutrients to your foetus via your blood vessels. When you lie down the flow tends to slow down and results in your swelling of the legs, which become jolted as you reach out to stand up. All you need is regular walking about and you will be ok.

Tell your doctor about it. You may be low on potassium. Try eating foods that contain potassium and see if it helps. That would be bananas or potatoes. Electrolyte imbalance can cause leg cramps which would include the potassium. Stay hydrated and drink Gatorade too.

This is totally normal; Just make sure your man has a nice oil next to the bed to give you leg massages when this happens. If he complains, smack him. *L*
