Most Americans are for immigration, but uncontrolled immigration is not the way to go. There's 20 million illegals living here and let's get real -- 80% of them are from Mexico. Controlled immigration is the only way to go becuase we're already seeing diseases that were eradicated her making a comeback because of the mass immigration from Mexico.

I want to see mor people from: Cambodia, Ghana, Latvia, Colombia, Haiti, Darfur, Serbia, Croatia, Bangladesh, Bolivia, Eastern Europe, Africa, South America, and Asia.

People from those countries would work their butts off to succeed and would be grateful to be in the United States, and we'd have true diversity, not just all Mexicans. Having 1000 people a day coming in from Mexico is plain unfair to the rest of the world that wants to come here.

Yes, I've wondered this also. It sounds like those from Mexico want immigration laws just for them, and another set of laws for the rest of the world.

It doesn't and never really did. My modest-sized home town has a very large Mexican population and dozens or Mexican restaurants, at least one owned and operated by a Korean immigrant. We also have numerous Chinese restaurants, a few Filipino, some Vietnamese places, and a Thai restaurant, most operated by immigrants from those countries. Nearby cities also feature Indian, Pakistani, Korean, African, Nepalese, Cambodian, Peruvian, etc.

I agree that there are too many people coming illegally from Mexico - and will continue to be until penalties for hiring them are stiff enough to make it unprofitable - but we are still extremely diverse and getting moreso all the time.

Dear fuctard: which countries are closest to our borders? Uh/.....Mexico and Canada. Now Canada has plenty of resources, wealth and supplies so that their citizens have no desire to run into America, make a quick buck and go home.

Now Mexico, if you would research, is the corrupted illegitimate child of the United States. (They're building a Mexican/Canadian Superhighway, so use your head.) Remember NAFTA, and how it was supposed to help both countries? Well, hundreds of millions of dollars are flowing into Mexico, while millions of Mexicans are flowing into the US.

Perhaps you could start a travel agency, down in Mexico, and bring in different immigrants from around the world and let them pass into the revolving door we call a Mexican border.

The True meaning of "Melting Pot" per speech from Theodore Roosevelt.

"From the melting pot of life in this free land all men and woman of all nations who come hither emerge as Americans and nothing else. They must have renounced completely and without reserve all allegiance to the land from which they or their forefathers came. And it is a binding duty on every citizen of this country in every important crisis to act solidly with all his fellow Americans, having regard only to the honor and interest of America, treating every other nation purely on its conduct in that crisis, without reference to his ancestral predilections or antipathies. If he does not act, he is false to the teachings and lives of Washington and Lincoln; he is not entitled to any part or lot in our country and he should be sent out of it." (Theodore Roosevelt, "The Children of the Crucible" New York, Sept. 9, 1917)

Something our politicians need to do all the time. All others need not apply, and have no claim to the true meaning.

I for one wish the words "Melting Pot" would go away. I think that pot has since burned up.

Diversity is great. However all those countries you listed are not on our border.

So when those people get here after doing it the legal way, Americans will R.E.S.P.E.C.T. them more then any illegal that gets amnesty.
