An error in translation?

You had to know that you were going to get the mathematical answer! lol

As I understand it, it is a debate amongst scholars as to the correct number. Also, as I understand it the number 616 is the more recent one on the scene. Since I am not the kind of person who needs a tradition, I will wait to hear the verdict before I judge 666 to be wrong, or 616 to be right. Either number has nothing to do with Jesus being my savior anyway.

In the original Greek, the words are chi xi stigma which mean "The 22nd, 14th and an obsolete letter of the Greek alphabet, used as numbers; denoting respectively 600, 60 and 6; 666 as a numeral"

I don't remember which version of the Bible the 616 came from but it is obviously a mistranslation.

One version of Revelation has "666", the other has "616". Both mean "Nero Caesar". If you take the letters in "Nero Caesar" and put them into Hebrew numerology, you get 616. Add an "n" to "Nero" (to fit the 616/666 in grammatically), you get "666" - "n" being equal to 50.
