You are correct that the word is an invention of a movement. They take an actual warming trend and try to define the word, global warming, as human caused. There is very little evidence that "global warming" in the last 3 decades is caused by humans. It is merely continuing a trend that is thousands of years old. If you look at the trends from a million years, you will see a regular pattern of ups and downs. We are currently on an upward path about 3/4s of the way up. Warming can have many benefits. Those that use natural change for political purposes by exploiting the ignorant are sorry individuals and those that blindly follow them are gullible in my opinion.

As has been mentioned, global warming has been studied for over 100 years. Nobody "invented" it, it's simply an occurence which we observe (and contribute to).

Al Gore is not a retard, he's a very smart and articulate person. He has simply accepted the scientific consensus that the current global warming has been primarily caused by humans. As Gore states, any reasonable person who looks at the data would be convinced of this conclusion. That's why over 90% of climate science experts agree that the current global warming is mainly caused by human activities. Gore has nothing to do with this conclusion - he simply agrees with it and presents it in film and appearances and speeches and such. In fact, for someone who's not a scientist, he understands and presents the information very well.

The Ice Age was a natural climate change event.
Plenty of scientific tests and hundreds of scientists have shown it exists. Also, I believe many are unaware that this is an international problem several countries are working on. Hardly a political scheme on the part of US politics.
England is very concerned about it. Already, the change is affecting the Gulf Stream which affects their gardens and farms/plantations. Hardly anyone over there is foolish enough to deny it. Before Blair resigned, he was doing something in regards to it. Sorry, I don't have the specifics.
Humans now have the technology to forecast this and try to alter the natural scheme. Again, the Ice Age was natural but if there were scientists who could have seen it coming, they'd be doing the same they are now!

HERE!

Hansen, James -

American climatologist and a world expert on climate modelling and climate change. He was one of the first scientific experts to publicly state that global warming has begun.

And I found this in another question.

Q. Is there any ONE person who discovered global warming? If not, what year was global warming discovered?.

A. The first person to have predicted that emissions of carbon dioxide from the burning of fossil fuels would cause a global warming is considered to be S. Arrhenius, who published in 1896 the paper "On the influence of carbonic acid in the air upon the temperature of the ground." That atmospheric carbon dioxide was actually increasing was confirmed beginning in the 1930s, and convincingly so beginning in the late 1950s when highly accurate measurement techniques were developed (the most famous demonstration of this is in C.D. Keeling's record at Mauna Loa, Hawaii). By the 1990s, it was widely accepted (but not unanimously so) that the Earth's surface air temperature had warmed over the past century. An ongoing debate is whether such a warming can, in fact, be attributed to increasing carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. [RMC]

It is scientifically proven that we are contributing to global warming. On top of many many many tests, reaserch projects, and experiments to prove it, almost all scientists agree with the fact that we are causing global warming to go way out of scale. ex: Lets say that global warming is on a scale of 1-100. before now, yes, it has happened. ice age is 1. boiling earth is 100. so, it has been between 1 and about 40. up and down before now. naturally. now, we are causing it to go way up to 70 or so. (on my little scale.). al gore is not exaggerating, though I have my own bone to pick with him. Global warming is avery big, very real, and very very very bad problem that needs to be delt with fast.

The idea of global warming is not a new idea. I first heard of it in the 1960's, when science was real. I am sure the idea is older than that, but I am only 46 . What humans have done to the world is far from natural. Why do you ask for opinions when your mind is so closed.

Al is convinced that naturally occurring phenomena just have to be the result of mankind's irresponsibility. I'm sure if Al had been around during the last Ice Age he would have blamed that on mankind as well.

Al is a media whore. He uses global warming as a method of getting his face in front of the camera.

Forget Al Gore, he has nothing to do with the solid science.

Global warming was first raised as a possibility in the late 1800s. It started to be seriously considered around 1985. Today, because of the verified and peer reviewed data that has mounted up, the vast majority of scientists believe it is real, and mostly caused by us.

Global Warming has been happening since the beginning of time. It is a natural occurrence, but with all the pollutants we send up into the air, we are making it go too fast, which causes bad weather, heat, and animals to die out.

Mother Nature invented global warming, just like she invented global cooling. Both are natural occurrances.

Yes, Al Gore really IS that retarded.
The risks he promotes ARE exaggerated, because they are very much a part of normal climate changes.
