OK my church took the kids to see shrek. Confused me. A bunch of kids that attend my daughters private christian school took their kids to see shrek. Still confused.
I am not, have not, will not let my kids see Shrek. Any of them. Just my husband and I's personal opinion. I always go online to http://www.pluggedinonline.com/ for movie reviews. The review gives a detailed synopsis of the movie including
Positive Elements, Spiritual Content, Sexual Content, Violent Content, Crude or Profane Language, Drug and Alcohol content, Other Negative Elements.
I take all that into consideration with my personal morals, values, views and beliefs on what the kids can watch. Then I decide per movie. I have decided that Shrek is a movie they can wait to see when they are out of my house.
They get enough of the liberal propaganda in everyday life. I am not going to voluntarily shove it down their throat. Its just a movie. There lives will not be altered by not seeing it.
Hope that helps.

My kids have seen all three movies. I agree there are some comments in them that I wish were not there. I actually haven't seen the third one for myself. In my opinion there not too bad. However there is a Shrek 3-D which I forbid my kids to see. It is way to involved in death and ghosts.

What's going on? Is somebody protesting Shrek? Did I miss the memo? I make it a point to watch movies that are protested, so I better buy some tickets.

What about it? There is nothing wrong with fantasy as long as it doesn't effect your real life. I'm a Christian, and I play Dungeons and Dragons. I've been playing it since I was 12, and even then, I knew without a doubt that you can't cast magic spells. Ogres and wizards are fine to fantasize about, though, and the stories can still teach morality in an entertaining way.

Most kids love them, though my nephews tell me there's a slightly scary part toward the end of Shrek the third.
Why would they different than any other animated fairytale out there?

My granddaughter has seen them - of course, she's only 2 1/2 and doesn't understand them fully. She has the Shrek 2 happy meal toys too. (GASP!!) Of course, I do make it a point to teach her the difference between fantasy and reality!

My kids saw the first one and second one- I did not want them to see the second one but my mom took them without me knowing....however the third one I don't want them seeing until I see it.
I know in the the others one there was some crude humor which I do not want my son learning...he is the one most impressionable.
My older daughter however, I can see myself being more lenient with seeing the 3rd one. But I would like to see it first.

It shouldn't be a problem. Explain to them the things you feel are not right to your children, then it should not be a problem then. With Best Regard.
