The largest hole in the ozone layer, ever recorded. Is the hole, above antartica, being recorded as a massive, 11.4 Million Square Miles. About the size of north america. This was recorded on september 9th, 2000. Since, there has been a steady decrease in the size of the hole, now registering between 8.9 and 9.4 million square miles. There are many factors that contribute, to the massive increases and decreases in the hole, such as climate changes, the time of year, and some people believe, man made machines, such as cars, and planes. My sources are listed below.

Recording holes in the atmospere is a relatively new technique so I'm not sure how accurate it would be. I would think it started during the Industrial Revolution, things have cleaned up since then (or we know how to hide it better-?) but I don't think it's ever shrunk in size so I would guess the largest recorded measurement would be a fairly recent date.

Global warming and the ozone hole are two completely separate issues - two unproven theories laced together doesn't make one proven one.
