Oh by all means check out Joes Seafood and Steaks, they have the best crab claws. There is another place I think it is called the Firehouse, haven't been there yet. Both require reservations and are $$$$.

Well...it's not in chicago exactly but if you want to drive a little out of your way and go to Oak Brook, go to Wildfire. They have THE BEST steak....it's kind of a 40's swing theme going. Martini/steak house. Awesome food. If not..Maggiano's (which is italian) is next door along with some others.....

Tango Sur or Quartino's are two of my favorite places for birthday parties.

Tango Sur has amazing food at reasonable prices and it's BYOB's so everyone can bring what they want and it keeps the tab decent.

Quartino's is super fun for a party, the food is great and you can order so many different things and share. The wine choices are great as well.

My two favorite places have to be Riva on Navy Pier, great food and view, and Marconi's in Lagrange, great Italian food & very family friendly. Here is a link to each of them.
