I'm feeling quite annoyed by many people. I have questions about the Bible, and I'm sure others do to, I only want to become closer to God.

Some people feel that God is fictional and the Bible is a fiction story. Christianity is my religion, along with many other peoples. What gives people the right to smash me + my questions on yahoo answers?

I don't reply negatively to YOUR religious questions.

So I guess my question is, what are everyone else's views on this?

I'm very open minded, but if I have a question about God, I kinda want an answer to the question...not "Stop believing in fake gods." or "Screw your god."

The unbelievers don't know any better. While bleeding on the cross of Calvary Jesus said, "Father forgive them, for they know not what they do."

The Bible says, "the teaching of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing."

Don't let them offend you. Keep remembering that "He that is in you is greater than he that is in the world." And you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you. Even ignore a few mocking unbelievers.

I never stop wanting to get closer to God and I understand how you feel. Ask God to strengthen your faith. I have many times and every time He has the Holy Spirit teach me something new. I hope that I am helping you. I am 62 and very opinionated when it comes to my Lord. Bless you.

lets face facts: the bible is only SOME of the stories that were originally created or written down. there are MANY more they left out. therefore, in my way of thinking, the bible cannot be truly trusted. who decided what was put into it? christians. church officials. do you think they allowed negative or other unglamorous things into it? i think not. we are talking about their god after all. their savior. to me, it is partly fictional because it doesnt tell the entire story. as for God being fictional, i have no proof either way about it.
personally, i try not to 'smash' anyone on here. i tell the truth as i see it, and sometimes the truth hurts. i am sorry for some of the other crass and rude comments i am sure will appear on your question. its enevitable. people will disagree about religion. its kinda what we do.
ok, you asked for my views. and now you have them. use wisely.

The Bible says that their is only ONE way into Heaven, that way is through Jesus Christ: Who IS GOD. (John 14:6)
Also, the Bible speaks against idols and pagan gods in the Ten Commandments. (The Ten Commandments can be found in Deuteronomy chapter five and so on)
Concerning the validity of the Bible: it is true, and has been validated by other sources of historical relevance. Jesus did exist, and professors know that, what they then try to do is to take away the Divinity of Christ. (The Divinity is Jesus being God)
I encourage you to pick up your Bible and read it!
Start with the Gospel of Mathew and familiarize yourself with the person of Jesus.
Don't worry about what others think (in fact, look up Everything that I have told you, and check it against the Bible)
Christianity is a PERSONAL relationship between you and God.
God bless you and have a great day!

People are cruel... and they are much more vicious online where they don't have to face the people they are attacking or being rude too. I am not religious and I dont believe in god/s of any kind but I try not to be rude to others who do believe.. we are all entitled to our own beliefs. Just because other members of a certain religion, or lack thereof are rude or uncouth doesnt give anyone the excuse to constantly reply to others like that. I goes both ways, all ways in fact... atheists, christians, wiccans etc etc.. All seem to attack one another here in this category... the best way to deal with it is to ignore the people who are hurtful, respond to those who spark intelligent debates, or ask relevant questions only. There is always negativity, people are frustrated, opinionated, and narrow-minded.... half of the worlds problems stem from such attitudes and you can really see it in the Religion category more than anything else... It should be a sign to us all that something is wrong when people cause such strife over different beliefs... and are so cruel to others because they believe differently no matter what belief system.

PS I mean just look at the people above bashing you because you are christian, and using the excuse that since other christians have done things or said things gives them the right to treat all christians with disrespect. I do not agree with what christianity teaches nor do I condone the actions of some members of christianity in the past or present but that does not mean all christians are like that and it certainly doesnt give me nor anyone else the right to treat members of christianity with hatred and disrespect.. people need to grow up, seriously stop hiding behind the excuse of past/present acts by other people as a license to be cruel and rude to others without reason.

Also I would like to add that religious persecution goes both ways.. there are those who persecute the religious and there are the religions that persecute others, neither is acceptable. We must learn to live and let live... I mean look at all the people who dont believe, they complain that religions try to force their beliefs on them and say how much they dislike it, yet here they are trying to push their disbelief on believers in the same rude and cruel way... I have had religions try to force their beliefs on me, I didnt like it at all, that is why I learned from that not to try and push MY beliefs onto them.. its the same thing. Do unto others as you would have others do unto you... that is wisdom no matter where the words come from and I live by that rule because I want to set an example for others. I may be an agnostic but I am a good person and I believe that NOBODY should force what they believe or disbelieve on others because nobody likes to have that done to them.

True, this does happen, and it is unfortunate that a mature, unemotional or bigoted dialog can seldom ever be maintained in a group. I think it is because ones beliefs represent a most intimate part of the individual. It represents a person's point of view, orientation to the observable world, perception and interpretation. If one may say another's beliefs are foolish or unrealistic, it is often received as "you" are foolish and unrealistic.

I am decidedly non-christian. Most of my friends and associates, however, espouse some level of commitment to some denomination of that faith. I will entertain their questions when asked, but I never open a conversation about my faith as opposed to theirs, since it is of no interest to me, or my faith, that anyone accepts our teachings. All must make his or her own way through this life and stand accountable for choices made. If the topic is opened, however, it ends well when we agree to disagree and respect the differences that make us unique.

In the end, there are many who attack others as a reaction to fear and intolerance. To those of my faith, fear, or submission to, is a sin.

Thank you for your question.

Those that answer that way are referred to in the Bible as being "Carnal Minded", that is, all they know is the flesh and the physical. Anything that involves any kind of acceptance of a "spiritual world" scares them, so they must ridicule them in order to deal with their fear that the Bible is true and there will be eternal reprocutions to their actions here on earth.

Matthew 12:36
Jesus said, "But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment."

Often people reply negatively to try to cover up their own insecurities. All too often, the people that complain about the "bigotry of Christians" are the same ones that do nothing but tear down our beliefs and call us names.

I guess it is kinda like the playground bully, they pick on other kids because they do not feel good about themselves.

You have to realize the god in the bible isn't actually a god. He's a proto-jewish tribal chieftain. Basically, the god of the bible is an idealized barbarian chief. That's why he's so obsessed with making sure everyone worships him and not anyone else. That's why he makes the endless petty demands of his people. He isn't an omnipotent god, he's a barbarian who happens to be on top right then, and knows damn well eventually he'll be killed and replaced.

So what it comes down to is propaganda -- as the sitting chieftain, he IS the only chieftain. Anyone who has another chieftain in mind is either of a rival tribe, or worse, plotting his demise.

Most halfway normal Christians do nothing about the freaks who screech and act out about other religions and atheism, so they're fair game. The "I'm right and you're wrong" argument doesn't really leave room for open conversation either.

God is Love. Read more on jnsr site.....Ex.'
I will take the first step towards the pagans.

*******

1st November 2006

JNSR: Sweet Jesus, may your Holy Name reign on Earth as it does in Heaven!

JESUS: The Holy Church must make God known through Christ. Among Christian, catholic or protestant, charismatic or fundamentalist; who, do you think, holds the whole Truth of God? Only God!

Read St Luke again, JESUS at Nazareth (Lk 4, 27-28):

27 In the prophet Elisha’s time there were many lepers in Israel, but none of these was cured except the Syrian, Naaman. (a heathen)

When they heard this everyone in the synagogue was enraged.

When you judge one of your brothers, you are judging Me.

If, today I am sending you to the pagans, It is I you are going to meet first: I am awaiting you, you must talk to them in My Name.

The Holy Spirit is looking for men of good will, men who will be makers of the Renewal that God has already created in His Spirit. In order to achieve that, the place must be neutral, with no prejudice. This Renewal needs to take several paths that will all end up into the Spirit who is Light. Today I am looking for the pagans; My Love wants to prove that I can fill in all the spiritual voids, that I am in this soul as much as I am in another one who declares herself “ a friend of God” and with My word I am going to give Life again to the one who was already buried in his tomb; Just as I did for Lazarus.

This pagan is at last going to know the Life, the True Life. He is going to meet his saviour because I am going to give him lucidity. He is going to fill in his spirit with the only Name that saves every being on this Earth; this Name that saves every man, little and big, coming from every religion, from every race. This Name, Jesus Christ, has been given by the Angel of the Lord at the Annunciation.

Who has been looking for you first, is it you or Me? Therefore I will go first towards the pagans because I want to save them all.

God is Love
