Whe it was written is a source of contention - no one is sure when any of the Gospels were written. They can give a range, but there is no September 23, 0070.

However, common opinion is that they Gospel of Mary was written sometime in the second century.

Does it contain any positive advice? Depends on your take on things. It says that hell isn't a permanent state of affairs and it's rather a testing ground for last chancers, it says that women should be allowed in the ministry and that Mary Madgelene was Christ's favorite diciple. It talks about the time Christ spent with her and the secrets they shared.

Since we only have fragments of the book, you might want to take a quick look. it doesn't take that long to read - and as ever - if you are really interested- start reading Bart Erhman.

They believe it was written in the latter part of the first century or early part of the second. What survives is only fragments. A vision of the assent of the soul is described.

Here, read it for yourself. What we have available to us today is only like 2 pages worth of material. You can read it in a couple minutes.

Read and form your own conclusion.
