Those were two different occasions.

Jesus walked on water to show Peter and disciples what faith is.

Jesus calmed the storm to show that he has power over it (wind, weather...), proving all the more that he was actually the masterworker who was with God during creation (Proverbs 8).

Why did Jesus feed the five thousand? Why die He heal the blind man? Why did He raise Lazarus from the dead? Miracles are a sign of divine authority. Miracles give witness to Jesus Christ and are an expression of His compassionate love. Most men, unfortunately, don't just believe. They are like " doubting Thomas's" who need to see. But the greatest miracle of the N.T. faith is the resurrection of Christ.

Quite simple: in Palestine it can be f***ing hot in summer. Imagine you walk barefoot... you will LOVE to cool your soles after a walk...

By the way: walking on water is meaningless. Walking on this earth instead of daydreaming about chimeras like "God" is the real McCoy.

By the way:

Why did Jesus cross the road?

because His disciples lacked the faith they needed in order to continue on with what Jesus was calling them to do....Its not who they were that mattered to Jesus, its who their faith in Jesus could make them ...that made the difference!

Remember he was trying to tell them to have faith....

"Oh, ye of little Faith"

It was one of many things He did for the purpose of revealing to the Apostles - and to us - Who He really was. God.
