some people shy away from colored tattoos. there are many different reasons. one is because some people are under the strange impression that getting a tattoo with many different colors hurts more then a solid colored one. (which is silly...they are both going to hurt. it really depends more on your pain tolerance.) another reason is because colored tattoos may bleed into one another, and seeing as tattoos fade over time aswell, some people may worry that a tattoo with many different colors will be less recognizable with time rather then a single, solid blue.

also, some colors dont show up well. for african americans, some latinos, and people with naturally darker skin, pretty much the only color choice they have are blues, purples, and blacks. other colors would not only show up badly, but they would look odd.

probably the most obvious and most accurate reason however, is that it is popular. tribal symbols and small blue buttrflies are all the rage. they are simple. and because tattooes are still somewhat shyed away from in society (even though it is SO much more widely accepted) people tend to go for simplicity rather then over the top portraits with many complex colors and designs. its kinda like an introduction into the world of tattoos...a small blue paw print or something lol

Most people don't get blue tattoos! Where on earth did you get that idea? My tattoos only have a little bit of blue in them.

That is a weird generalization and I'd love to know where you found that fact.

Black tattoos, over time can appear greenish or blue due to fading and poor upkeep so that might be where your confusion lies.

However, most people I know get bright and colorful tattoos and I'm pretty sure its an even split between black and greyscale tats and color.

You mean "tattoos" not "tatoos" Anyway, not sure where you got this info but don't think its at all accurate.

I don't think they get blue tatoos, they start out black and fade over time making them look blue.

i don't know what you mean by most people but my tattoos are very lacking in blue. two of them have a small amount of blue. i have never noticed a prevalence of blue tattoos anywhere.

It could be the color the person wants, a suggestion from the tattoo artist, the color of the picture the person brings in, or its' just the traditional way to do it. It varies.
