There are many positive about LEGAL immigrants. They bring different skill sets, creatitivy, cultural ideas, positive influences of their cultures, including ABIDING BY THE LAWS OF THE COUNTRY THEY ARE IMMIGRATING TO.
Now illegal immigrants may also provide these same influences, but since they have already shown the ability to be disrespectful of the host country by BREAKING THE IMMIGRATION LAWS of that country, then their criminal behavior overshadows any good they might bring.

There is always positives to legal immigration. You never know what skills or talents an immigrant may have, some great people in the USA were at one time an immigrant. The discord over immigration now is centered on illegals, the ones currently here and the potential for future ones. With the majority of the illegals having low skill levels or no skills they will take more from the USA than they contribute. The USA now allows more (legal) immigrants into the country per year than any other country. The purpose of limiting it is to keep in balance the population vs. resources. The illegals cause things to be out of balance in the areas where they gather. You will find most Americans favor legal immigration, it is the illegal element of today that some support that angers most Americans.

I'd like to give a few positives in the Immigration Reform Bill.
1.Tha law as it stands today doesn't allow police to ask a persons legal status.Even if they do find out they can't detain that person for longer than they would a citizen. The bill changes this. The illegal who doesn't have at least a z-visa issued will be detained until immigration deports them for a non violent offense or they go to an American prison for a violent offense.
2.Penalties for employers who repeatedly hire illegals goes from $3000.00 per illegal to $75,000.00 per illegal
3.6000 to 10,000 new Border Patrol agents are in the process of being hired. The "fence"is a physical fence on high usage passage ways. The "fence"on less used passage ways is electronic monitoring with guard posts all along the border so they can detain quicker.
4.All illegals will be given an extensive background check before being issued a visa and MUST take a physical.
5.No person who is issued a visa will be allowed to access public assistance such as Welfare,Public Housing,Medicaid or Medicare,SSI, or Social Security.
6.They MUST be able to speak ENGLISH at least to a point of conversation. If at the time they recieve the visa they don't they MUST take an English class and report to their worker that they are indeed going or they will be deported.
These are but a few of the things in the new immigration bill.I especially like number one. Also none of the visa's will even be issued until the Border measures are in place and and the electronic aspects of verifying their visa is in place. So personally I don't see why anyone is against the bill.

There are many, many positives to legal immigration. We get a wonderful blend of cultures and foods, we have an ever evolving citizenry, we are constantly exposed to new ideas, thoughts, and opinions. I think its great that the U.S. so warmly accepts legal immigrants. Heck, its what we're founded on.
Now, if you mean positives about illegal aliens, then the only thing I can think of is the extra jobs created by them for Americans - like ICE, border patrols, law enforcement, and attorneys.

Some of this country's most gifted surgeons Immigrated from other countries........ALL of our ancenstors were at one time immigrants and without them, we would have most certainly lived our lives a LOT differently in the countries of our natural origins......Even a LOT of Hollywood's most famous stars immigrated to the USA... (Catherine-Zeta Jones, Antonio Bandaris, the governor of California himself, Arnold and I can't spell Schwartzeneger.., Jean-Claude Van Dam and Orlando Bloom and the list goes on and on...) So yes, there are MANY positives in immigration... don't let what a few thousand illegals from Mexico are doing make you dislike ANYONE who immigrated into this country...

increase the population- where in 20 yrs arabic and asia countries will outnumber us- it will keep our populations up due to the fact that we no longer believe in large families
if a large work force is brought in can help with our Social security problem make enough of a patch where there may never be a terrific problem as what is expected.
that is all I can think of now- so ya know I am against illegal immigration but I learn both sides of the story.

They provide us with a wider range of religions in a country. Bring new cultures and food to the countries they arrive in and also provide a new work force. As most western countries have a aging population and immigrants usually have big families it improves the the overall age of the country.

Immigration is good for us. Most of us are descendants of immigrants. That is why we are so diverse. Almost no one does not agree with having Immigrants, it is illegal law breaking people who force their way in that we don't like. We also do not like Immigrants that want to bring their language and culture exclusively and not assimilate into our American way.

No, Because if they legalize every one and there mother..... then there will be an increase in crime. an increase in poverty which is proven to lead to crime.. there are so many other things. Why don't they stay in there own country's and make there own country's better? Think if it this way.... If the give all illegal aliens amnesty or set a date to do that there will be a flush of border jumpers/ swimmers into the united states. and when they do give them amnesty we already have a job problem in the united states so.. we cannot really afford for them to become citizens.. also the social security that every American contributes to will be sucked up by people who haven't paid 1 cent to Uncle Sam.... there for there are not any pros in my eyes. so .... Just my 2 cents
Hera "and are also willing to learn OUR language which is English. This is the USA..the Constitution was written in English.
"
Yes it was written in English and yes they try and learn English but haven't you noticed that everything nowadays is being translated into Spanish....... I bet soon there will be a Spanish translation in the museum of the declaration of independence.........

Immigration? There are LOTS of positives in immigration. Immigration helps the country grow, and because there are health exams the people are healthy and are willing to create something of themselves...they usually aren't the ones that you see on welfare and usually come with college degrees. They also are willing to melt into the melting pot that so many people speak about...and are also willing to learn OUR language which is English. This is the USA..the Constitution was written in English.
Illegal aliens is something totally different and NO there is not any positives for the Country from illegal aliens breaking the law. They most likely are not willing to melt and usually, I have seen wanting to take advantage of the situation, including, but not limited to STEALING, DRUG DEALERS, and coming here to take advantage of our system.
