I have a large Thomas Kinkade painting (25.5 x 34) and want to know what is the best way to hang it. It is framed with a wire already mounted on the back to hang it on. What do I need to buy to mount to the wall to hang the picture on?

The wall is plaster.

You need to buy picture hanging hooks that are for the weight of you painting. Use two hooks about 18" apart. Using a stud finder you can see if at least one will hit the stud, though this is not totally necessary. Using two hangers will keep the picture from shifting.

Picture hangers come in varying sizes rated in "pounds"...you can estimate the weight of the print..and then purchase picture hangers (little hook like things that have a nail that also does in them)...say the print weighs about 30 pounds..I would buy a hanger that is for say up to 50 pounds...
I also hear those "Hercules Hooks" are good and will hold up to 150 pounds without leaving a large unsightly hole in the wall..

Your best bet is to try and locate a stud in the wall. If this cannot be done, I suggest a drywall anchor or toggle bolts. This is how I hang all my heavy pieces. Be sure to buy the proper size for the thickness of the wall and the weight of the object you're hanging. Good luck! :)

Depends on the actual wall you are going to hang the paining on. Is it solid brick, plaster, timber or what? Go to your local hardware store, tell them the size and weight of your painting, the type of wall you are going to attach it to and then they will give you the correct fixtures for your requirements. If you already know of these picture hanging kits, just select the correct one for your situation. Good luck!
