no you are NOT allowed to be turned away from the emergency room with or with out insurance the doctors take an oath to not cause harm on individuals my husband had that flesh eating bacteria in his leg and they took really great care of him we do NOT have insurance at all and the hcap helped pay the bills they are not allowed to turn you away at all go to a different hospital and tell them what is going on and see what happens but the treatment you are recieving actually lack of treatment is illegal i bet you got an hmo and do NOT even know it well take care and keep me posted giggles47532000@yahoo.com you are in my prayers

You are entitled to a medical screening exam and cannot be turned away without one. On the other hand, once the exam has determined that there's no emergency, and that's a near-certainty since you describe an ongoing chronic problem, they have no obligation to treat. The emergency department is there for its specific purposes, and it can't be all things to all people. That's why you have a primary care doctor. It also appears you've had three opinions on whether you needed hospitalization, and all three determined outpatient treatment was the best option. Some people would have made the inference that outpatient treatment by your primary physician would be most appropriate. As a matter of fact, I think it's a good bet they instructed you to do so.

Unless you are in dire need of medical care not all hospitals have to admit you. Go to a public hospital. But remember it is still the MD's descision whether to admit you or not. The part about YOUR MD not being on call is not true, there is always house Docs, but unless you are septic or MRSA you may not need hospital care. Make an appointment with your MD and tell him your concerns and ask him/her if hospitalization is right for you. Hope this helps. Oh and dont get beligerant and refuse to leave because they can and probably will use security or the police to remove you from the facility. I work at our towns hopital and have seen what happens when people are difficult.... just some advise

Emergency rooms are not allowed to turn away patients. All patients a required to recieve an assessment by the Emergency Room Physician. That physician is not required to admit you if that physicain feels you are stable to be discharged and follow up with either your primary care physician, a local clinic, or a specialist if needed. If the E.R. Dr. feels that you need to be admitted, it doesn't matter who is on call. If you are going to the E.R. repeatedly and not being admitted, most likely, your condition does not warrant a hospital stay. Why not try calling your physician's office to see what they want you to do. If that doesn't help, change physicians or go to a local clinic.

Yeah, they would see you right away. There are risks associated with a miscarriage and they will do an ultrasound to make sure the baby is either okay, or everything has passed. A pregnancy test will come up positive for several days, up to a month after a miscarriage due to leftover hormones. Best wishes.

If you need medical attention it is the hospital's legal responsibility by law to admit you regardless if you can't pay or whatever. Just because YOUR doctor isn't on call doesn't mean you can't be admitted. Go to the hospital. Show them your feet. Don't leave until they treat you.

I hate the American healthcare system.

generally no, they CANNOT turn you away in the ER
but if your talking about actually being admitted to the hospital then yes sometimes you need a referral from your doc depending on the situation
ALSO, keep in mind that some hospitals are private and do reserve the right to refuse patients. sad huh ? :*(

Go to another hospital. This sounds like a serious problem that needs to be treated quickly. Also, MAKE AN APPOINTMENT WITH YOUR DOCTOR so you can get a treatment plan.
