essentially... expect people to not sacrifice at all on standard of living for the environment.
Look at Al Gore. did he give up his private jet? How about his multimillion dollar mansion that uses more energy than some small towns?
If the "poster child" for green living won't sacrifice... then why would you expect anyone else to sacrifice?

Nor will people stop going to movies or major sporting events or concerts, all of which consume enormous amounts of fossil fuel energy while they leave the furnace or AC on back home.
Nor will people stop buying consumer products made of plastic, or anything else for that matter which is delivered over long distance by truck or rail, all of which use fossil fuel.
Nor will they pay their next door neighbor $10 an hour to make their tennis shoes. They would rather pay someone in China $1.00 a day to make them, then have them shipped across the oceans courtesy of fossil fuel.
Nor will they relocate back to the big cities where their jobs are so they can walk to work every day.
Nor will they give up the luxury of cooking food in conventional ovens that waste energy in favor of efficient microwave ovens, especially when they want to pay a lot of money to "dine out". Ever see a restaurant advertise "we cook all entrees in microwaves"?
Nor will they tolerate seeing big 3 bladed props out their window providing wind generated electrcity. Or solar collectors on their roof. Or on their neighbors.
Nor will they forgo the privilege of allowing fossil fuel to propel them thru the air or over the interstate to their favorite vacation retreat
Nor will I either.
Maybe everyone should likewise join me in DEALING WITH IT. The UN says its going to be around for a thousand years no matter what we do or don't do, its in their report on the last page!

if you list yours I'll list mine. Or you can see my list on the Q&A already. People above a certain income level tend to feel they can get around the climate warming problem, so since the income of a lot of people has risen these days because of more college education, it may mean that very few people take climate change and global warming seriously, and that only means problems for us all as a group in the future. I understand that will come within 50 years, is moving faster now since more countries are becoming wealthy, and the problems are starting and would surface in your lifetime so I would hope you would reconsider your stand.

Seeing as how human beings contribute to less than four percent of greenhouse gasses emitted into the earth's atmoshpere I'm pretty sure we don't have to.
Global warming is a political scare tactic that politicions use to garner support for themselves.
It's the democratic version of the republicans terror scare tactics.
Personally i wish that people would stop giving these retarded issues credence.
greenhouse gas levels have been higher than they are now in the past, long before humans started adding to them.
Why will people not understand that the earth's climate changes on it's own? Regardless of our minor addition.
Human beings will run out of oil before we melt the polar ice caps I gaurantee it.
Thats the real reason we should be searching for alternative fuels.

To help slow down Global Warming does not necessarily mean stopping doing things you normally do. You can simply change your lifestyle instead. Use efficient light bulbs, use hybrid cars, carpool with friends, turn off lights you're not using, ect. There are a lot of ways you can help.

None until they can prove the link. Hybnrid cars cost twice as much as regular cars and are also more expensive to maintain. Carpooling - right - I live 20 miles from work and my kids live halfway in between. With whom could I possibly carpool? And I rent - I'm not buying lightbulbs that last 10 years and are not as bright. And I'm sure as hell not moving - I live on the water!

You don't have to lower your standard of living very much to reduce global warming enough to cope.
http://www.spiegel.de/international/world/0,1518,481085,00.html
Let it hit unchecked and the cost will lead to a worldwide economic depression. And resource impacts could cause a major war. Our military leaders are very worried about that.
