well for one thing a person is almost certainly not going to hear GOD he or she may hear an angel of the Lord speak.
I can tell you that if a person hears from one of the angels of the lord they don't wonder about it so they would not go to the doctor or if they did what ever the message was it most likely made sense and would not involve hurting someone so the doctor would have no reason to carry on seeing the person .

Exactly !!
President Bush claims that he was elected President the first time because it was ordained by God; he also has said that God told him to invade Iraq and unfortunately because of his born-again Christian faith he believes this.
Because of his religious beliefs he will never back down on his stance on the war on Iraq - his God told him to do so and he did. He will end his presidency with many, many troops in Iraq because to pull them out would go against what he believes is God's will.
I think this is proof of Bush being delusional and because he believes his delusions and is placing our troops in harm's way he fits into the category of insane - putting himself or others at risk. He should be institutionalized, medicated.
He should be impeached and he should be tried in the World Court in Hague for war crimes.
It just amazes me that the media just don't get his Iraq policy - they seem to tend to admit to his delusions, yet somehow expect him to act rationally.

They often are sent to mental hospitals. Ask any psychiatrist who has done residency in a locked facility.

But I think your real question is the one about how you can tell whether the voice is really God or not? Answer is found in the Bible: "By their fruits ye shall know them."

It is better now. Jean D'Arc was sent to the stake for hearing voices. People can get help for their afflictions now without being labeled. It really is better now.

It always amazed me that the Church sent Joan to the flames, yet as soon as she was good and dead, they canonized her. Proof, I think, that saints and Prophets and Saviors are much more popular dead than alive. They are so annoying when they are alive!

It is one thing to hear voices and another to believe them. Swedenborg says the voices are usually NOT the Holy Spirit talking and that spirits have nothing to teach man. The Bible is the Word or Lord.

Usually they are LOL
Most people say they talk to God, but not really hear his voice. At least I have never met one who did. And most people aren't institutionalized unless they are a danger to those around them or themselves or can't take care of themselves. They said Joan of Arc was crazy though. So I suppose its just who ever you talk to.

1. God doesn't speak audibly. Believers are indwelt by His Spirit, and the Spirit guides us.

2. We are also led by God's word, but not in ignorance -- one has to "study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." 2 Tim. 2:15

3. The voice of the Holy Spirit only tells us to act in accordance with God's word.

So if somebody tells you, "God told me to buy a new car," -- um, no. If they say, "God told me to kill my wife," -- I don't think so! If they say, "God told me to ask for your forgiveness and be more unselfish from now on." Yes, that probably was God, because you don't enjoy telling yourself that, and it's scriptural.

Keep seeking...

We believe doctors, though, who have been wrong many, many times, trusting that they have our best interest at heart. But they reallyhave their money and the HMO's best interest at heart.

But to the God issue, I hear God internally, speaking to me about my sin, my works and my thoughts. He guides me to do the right, and that's not crazy, because His voice sounds like the Bible, His Word.

Because it is a spiritual matter, not fleshy.
Some people COULD hear(UNDERSTAND) the voice of the Lord, because he said we would know him by his voice. But just to be on the safe side, you should always ask who is speaking by saying "........with the blood of Jesus". There would be no lies.
