Actually, I would say that according to God, I have more than I deserve. (But, that's probably my high view of God, veresus my low view of man.)
Excellent quote, by the way. (May I use it?)

I would change it . . . . let's see.
This is what you wrote:
" According to secularism and the humanistic belief system, I deserve more than I have. According to God, I have everything that I deserve." ????
This is what I would write ( BYA) :
" According to secularism and the humanistic belief system, I deserve just as much as anyone else. According to God, I have all my needs, I shall not have wants."

I believe that God helps those who help themselves. It's in the Good Book and I believe it to be true. Too many people look to Big Poppa to fix everything, when it is in their power to fix things themselves. That is what is at the basis of secular humanism, a willingness to do for yourself. I believe in this attitude, while giving all praise to the Lord for giving me the tools, mostly my BRAIN, to solve my own problems. No one "deserves" anything. What we get is by Grace, and through our own efforts. I think all the whining about humanists is pathetic. Bootstrap yourself sayeth the Lord!

Gods Word talks about filling needs not necessarily desires. God does desire you to use Faith in yourself to acquire your goals. There are differences in desire, dreams, and needs. Some of the rules of secularism and humanistic things can apply to the christian goals, when administered in Faith.

Jesse James...please find me the book, chapter and verse where it says "GOD helps those who help themselves"....the truth is, IT IS NOT IN THE BIBLE...ANYWHERE...in fact it goes against GODs teaching us to cast ALL our cares on HIM, to lean on HIM, to look to HIM for all our needs, be they big, or little. people have it backwards...they think GOD means for them to do as much as they can themselves...THEN go to GOD with what they cant handle...but GOD wants us to depend on HIM completely...the more we depend on GOD, the more we know we need HIM...doing it the other way fosters an independent attitude, an idea that we only need GOD when we are in trouble. "bootstrap yourself sayeth the lord" HOW DARE YOU PRETEND TO SPEAK FOR GOD!!!!!!!
as to the question...yes, i have noticed that people believe GOD should give them more and treat them better (i actually heard on this forum one saying why did GOD give me ginger hair, i don't deserve this, my life is ruined) but the truth of the matter is...if GOD gave to mankind as a whole what he deserved...GOD would have destroyed mankind completely. but HE didn't...instead, HE offered us love, and forgiveness, and for those who accept HE offers a renewing of the relationship man first had through Adam.

No.
I deserve death from God and to spend an eternity separated from Him. He has shown men grace.
