First, there are complications with your "fact" the group that came was very small, and then when they grew, they inter-mixed with others who were here, thus complicating the DNA issue. Also, history hasn't proven anything, all it's shown is A: THere were many that came from Asia, and B: There is still much to be discovered.

Also, it's Joseph Smith, not John Smith, careful to get yoiur accusations correct before posting them.

The Book of Mormon doesn't say that Israelites came to America in the time of Jesus. It says tha Israelites came to America 600 BC. That's 600 years BEFORE CHRIST.

The Hopi prophets teach of coming across the Pacific in boats. They had a white brother, Pahana will return and restore all that was lost. This isn't history, but the information in the Book of Mormon is not without foundation. Historians have never found physical evidence of Moses, but that does not diminish his teachings.

the isrealites that came to america came in 650 B.C. they where Nephi, Lehi, Laman, Sara and Lemeul they came here and made 2 people Nephites and Lamanites. The two sides fought each other and finally teh Lamanites destroyed the Nephites around 200-300 A.D I think (been awhile). Moroni (the last Nephite) buried the Gold Plates in the Hill Cumorah. Fast Forward 1500 years and you get Joseph Smith he was commanded by the Angel Moroni in 1833 (i think) and he found the plates he translated them with the two stones Urim and Thummim, WITH GODS HELP!

This is so true, it is because they have been blinded by the devil. Bigdawg's answer is a classic it actually shows how ignorant Mormons are of the actual truth. No one came to America yet he still believes the book of mormon is more correct than the historians and archeaologists

This like telling muslims Mohammed was not a prophet, and Allah is not their god, only you don't get your head cut off for it - literally.

It's a tremendous waste of time and bandwidth to discuss any belief system arrived at irrationally with rational explanations. Even the brethren of the church no longer look to science singularly to support the BoM claims, but just simply state: "Believe what we tell you - nothing else matters."

In the words of Gordon B Hinckley, "I don't know that we teach that..." Truly prophetic words from a true prophet of god. I wonder why they're not published in the appendices of all the "Standard Works" as a gentle reminder?

Satan blinds the eyes of the unsaved. I guess its hard to understand how he does that, but its easy to grow up in a cult and believe that stuff and the come out of it and think, dang I was so blinded. How could I have not seen it. Mormons have lots of excuses for some of their theology that sound good to me at the time and I was use to not thinking for myself. You would have to see both sides of the brainwashign and then coming out fo it, to understand why it was so believable.

We believe not because we see, we believe because we feel.

Did not Christ said to Thomas that, he believe because he sees, but those who did not see and believe is better?
