It's tempting ...ohh yes!
Things can turn to two directions:
#1 : You both hit it off really good. Sparks are flying and you cannot devote yourseves 100% to your daily tasks because you can't keep your hands off each other...
On that same note:
You can't help notice other co-workers glancing at your man/girl - therefore, jealousy arises... and causes problems in the office.
#2: If things go wrong while dating or after a while of being together, it will make it very uncomfortable to work alongside this person and keep it professional.
There are so many people out there... Look for love outside the office honey!
Good luck to you.

It could get in the way of work. Depending on what kind of job you have there could be problems of favoritism ex: You are the supervisor and she's a average co worker...others may see you favor her over other co workers.... OR the two of you are competing for position and one gets the job... Break ups can be messy and working together is awkward.

It's because they are insecure or just because for most people it would be awkward seeing your boyfriend/girlfriend all around you. They would be insecure because if the relationship ended badly, it would be extremely awkward working with them if you went too far together. But if you really like a co-worker, and you are not just looking for anybody, then I don't see a problem.

Because your relationship will never be private and when you breakup, everyone will be talking about it because one of you will open up your mouth. I have been there, went out with a co worker and slept with him. Never went any farther, but another co worker really liked him too and when she found out, she was very hurt. We were good friends and needless to say the friendship did not survive. Everyone we worked with knew what was going on and I ended up leaving because of it.

OK, here's the "bad scenario" that makes it a bad idea.
- you and a co-worker date
- you and the co-worker get along really well and become "involved"
- You and the co-worker have a falling out
- The co-worker now hates your guts and tells everybody lies about how bad a person you really are and ruins your career.

Well most of the time it is for the best because if you get into a fight and then break up then you will see each other and it will make things hostile and get in the way of working.

No problem at all, if you can get along after the relationship fails. Which most do.
Personally, I wouldn't. I've done it in the past. I would like to do it in the future. But, I'm not going to...period.
It adds unwanted stress.

i used to date my co-worker at my job of 3 years. we dated for ayear. he was my first love.it was so hard for me when we broked up. when we broke up, i didnt talk to him for at least a year. i see him at work but i didnt talk to him or even looked at him. we had a bad break up and it took me a year to get over him.it was so hard for me to see him everyday at work. i used to cry everyday for him. that's how bad he broked my heart.then i told myself, i will never ever date a co-worker.but people have different point of view and opinion. but i'm telling you, if you got hurt once by dating a co-worker before, don't do it again.you can find somebody to make you happy outside work.so good luck.

Sometimes it causes problems. It shouldn't but it does. When you are dating somebody who works with you, sometimes while in job you might be distracted by she or he. Employers don't like this, they wan't you there 100% body and mind. It just becomes a bit difficult. I kinda went out with my boss's son, not good.
