Hi, I just rescued a little kitten from the streets 2 days ago. She had a lot of dried blear on one eye. I took her to the vet, and they gave me an eye antibiotic to put on the eye 3 times a day. I have done that, and the eye is very clean now. But she keeps it half closed most of the time. Have you come across this situation? Will it be OK?

I don't mean she half-closes both eyes, like a sleepy cat. Just the infected one.

its only been two days. clear or not, you cant really expect an infection to clear up and be totally fine in that short time.

give it a week, he should be fine.

This happened with my cat a couple times where her eye got infected and pus came out of it. I used the eye treatment the vet gave me and her eye cleared up after giving her the amount the vet wanted me to. She still half closes that eye from time to time, even right after the pus went away she did that but was fine a few days after. I think your cat will be ok, just keep an eye on her to make sure the infection doesn't come back. Eye problems in cats are very common.

I have been putting drops in my cats eye for 6 days now... only 4 more to go, and I couldn't be more pleased with her progress. That and I'm getting better at putting the drops in without her twitching at the last possible second. It will get better. It took about 4 days to really see progress. She looks good as new now, but I will continue using the drop until day 10 as instructed.

Apparently conjunctivitis in cats is common. There is a portion of the eye especially susceptible to infection. With proper treatment, it is nothing more than a minor inconvenience. Without treatment it can result in vision loss or blindness.

Sounds like her eye is still just healing. If the kitten has only been on the eye meds for a couple of days, she still has a way to go before she is really well. Keep her on the meds for as long as your vet recommends. It's possible that she'll still have that eye more closed than her good eye for about a week or so after the meds are done.

Good for you for rescuing her, not all are so lucky!!! :)
