The premise of this "question" is weak because Jehovah's Witnesses simply are not obsessed with "Jehovah" as though it were some magical collection of letters. Instead, Witnesses simply recognize that worshippers of Almighty God would use His name, in whatever language they spoke.
It is true that the Almighty did not say, "Listen, thousands of years from now when a new language called English comes along, they can pronounce my name as 'Jehovah' and that's fine."
Instead, like with any and every personal name, different languages TRANSLATE personal names to fit their lingual tendencies. George becomes "Hor-hey" in Spanish or "Gay-org" in German and no one gets upset.
It's not exactly wrong to call the Almighty by the impersonal "God", just as it's not wrong to call one's offspring "Child". If we want a familiar and close relationship, however, it makes sense to use the personal name of someone we love. The Scriptures encourage us to use God's personal name.
The Hebrew name “Yahweh” (or “Yehowah”) does seem to accurately pronounce the divine name. Just as the Hebrew name “Yeshua” (or “Yehoshua”) is translated into “Jesus” in English, the Hebrew name “Yahweh” is translated into “Jehovah” in English.
The important thing is to use God’s personal name in whatever language you speak, rather than insisting upon the impersonal! The name “Yahweh” is certainly preferable to the non-name “God” or “Lord”, especially if you speak Hebrew. If you speak English, feel free to use the name "Jehovah".
(Psalms 83:18) That people may know that you, whose name is Jehovah, You alone are the Most High over all the earth
(John 17:26) [Jesus said] I have made your name known to them and will make it known, in order that the love with which you loved me may be in them

I'm laughing because you actually think the Vatican has power. Rome speaks and people look the other way.
One thing I would like to point out, however, is that theology in the Catholic Church does recognize a "hierarchy" between Father and Son. The Father is the "first" and "greater" in terms of principle... that is the origin of the Son... not a temporal principle or "first" nor a substantial "greater" since the Father in generating the Son does so by giving Him everything that belongs to the Father, aside from being Father. (I'm taking Trinitarian theology this semester).
By the way, fascism forces people with pain of death to follow. No one forced me to stay Catholic and all the preaching I hear is mainly hortatory (let us walk in the way of holiness... no one's forcing me), so kindly don't call my faith fascist!
By the way, just as a way of standing up for my faith to those protestants who only listen to the rhetoric fed them by ignorant and prejudiced pastors, when I rejected sin, the glamor of evil, and Satan, and professed belief in God the Father, God the Son (Jesus), and God the Holy Spirit at Baptism, I put on Christ, was made a member of His body and continue to strive to let Him save me all the more. Yes, you guys are very good in remembering that one must have a personal relationship with Jesus. This is comendable, but why do you assume that Catholics don't have a personal relationship with Jesus both in and through the sacraments He established and through prayer?
"That they may be one" He prayed, but that won't happen as long as anti-Catholic stereotypes continue.

"How is it possible to read the Gospel of John or Genesis or Revelation and not think that Christ is the Almighty God of Abram and Moses?"
Maybe because you don't sit at your own right hand. And maybe because it'd be a little schizophrenic for Jesus to be praying to himself in that case. And maybe because Christians didn't think Jesus was God for nearly THREE HUNDRED YEARS and then magically at the Council of Nicaea here comes the Doctrine of Trinity and suddenly there's a Trinity.

You have definately been misinformed. There is not hierachy in the Trinity becuase they are all one, you cannot be more than yourself. That is your first error by definition of the Catholic Cathecism.
There is no fascism in the catholic church, the laws and rules of the church are made byt he people and the pope and his cardinals review what the people are stating and then look for theological basis to either approve something as being true or not. Theological basis by the way now used by high protestant churches as well.
Lastly, scripture is the basis for all Catholicism, Orthodox or Roman, Eastern or Western Rite, it has never nor will it be ever a question of whether or not it is. In fact it is the only religion that shows scripture, the word of God, the reverence it deserves by addressing it as such.
Get your facts straight, and never compare any religion to another, that my dear brother, is wrong.
God bless and I truly pray that you will learn more about the true Catholic Church and Jehova's Witnesses.

in case you somewhat lookup the bypass connection with the scripture at John 18: 6 you will see it factors to John 7:40 six the place it states "The officers spoke back: “never has [yet another] guy spoken like this.” They knew he became into the "Christ" that's Greek for Messiah. It says not something approximately Him being God. alongside comparable strains, we could study Philippians 2:9, the place the apostle Paul describes what God did after Jesus died and became into resurrected. The verse says: "God exalted him [Jesus] to an excellent place and kindly gave him the call it fairly is above the different call." If Jesus became into God or equivalent to God earlier he died and God later exalted him to a miles better place, could that not placed Jesus above God? yet how could desire to all of us grow to be greater suitable to God? And if he became into God earlier he died, how can God die? there is not any "secret" here. Jesus is the Son of God. additionally, God continuously noted Jesus as his son, and Jesus continuously noted God as his father, showing that God became into older and had greater authority. He additionally stated that he got here to do God's will and not his own, showing 2 wills; his father and his. 2 separate wills. in case you desire to bypass on believing that God has 3 heads, then you definately could desire to have 3 too, with the aid of fact you have been created in his image!

>not think that Christ is the Almighty.
Jesus is called Mightly God. Only Jehovah is called Almighty.
Isa 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, (The mighty God), The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
Exd 6:3 And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them.

Obsession with Jehovah is never troubling.
JWs are not in ignorance of the Gospel.
Jesus is not the almighty God of Abraham or Moses. Moses could not see God, they could see Jesus.

This is why we believe that Jesus is God's son and not God himself:
John 1:1 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning wiht God." Many other translations use wording like this.
The New World translation reads "In the beginning the Word was, and the Word was with God, and the Word was a god. This one was in the beginning with God."
How do we know which one to use?
John 1:18 says, "No one has ever seen God."
If nobody has seen God, how can Jesus, who was on earth, be God?
Also John 1:14 says "So the Word became flesh and resided among us, and we had a view of his glory, a glory such as belongs to an only-begotten son from a father; and he was full of undeserved kindness and truth."
We read earlier that nobody has seen God and the Word became flesh. How can Jesus, who's the Word, be God come down to earth and say that nobody has seen God? It would contradict itself.
Also, in either translation, John 1:1, 2 states "the Word was with God". You can't be someone and at the same time be that someone you are with? It doesn't really make any sense.
Matthew 26:39 "Going a little farther he [Jesus Christ] fell on his face and prayed, 'My father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as thou wilt.'"
If Jesus was God, who was he praying to here?
John 8:17, 18 :[Jesus answered the Jewish Pharisees:] In your law it is written that the testimony of two men is true; I bear witness to myself, and the Father who sent me bears witness to me."
Jesus clearly spoke of himself as an individual seperate from the Father.
A definition of God is One that is worshiped, idealized, or followed. Is Jesus to be worshipped? Absolutely! He was given responsibilities in the heaven by his Father (Philippians 2:9-11). But Jesus himself said, "If I glorify myself, my glory is nothing. It is y Father that glorifies me, he who you say is your God."

Jehovah's Witnesses are more fundamental in their beliefs on what the Bible says. Since the Bible does not mention "Trinity" nor are any scriptures in the Bible that support this silly belief of the Trinity, then the Witnesses are just practicing what they've studied.
You really need to re-read your Bible again. You think that Jesus is the Almighty, yet this thought is in error. Here's why:
1) When Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist, who spoke from the heavens?
2) When Jesus was crucified on the cross, who was he yelling at when he called out, "My lord, why have you forsaken me?"
3) When Jesus told his apostles that he would go into prayer one evening and for his apostles to keep watch, who was Jesus praying too? Himself? Makes no sense.
4) When Jesus died, he became non-existent. Who resurrected him? God Almighty of course.
5) Jesus always called the Almighty God his Father. The Almighty was always on a higher position than Jesus. Why would he do this is he's suppose to be the Almighty himself?
The list goes on and on. Catholism has totally corrupted the teachings of the Bible to suit their needs of power and control. At least the Jehovah's Witnesses are trying to make things right.
