IT depends on her. Is she responsible? Is she patient? Does she know right from wrong? Does she respect others? Who would she be babysitting? How old the child? ETC. You know your daughter. You have to ask yourself all these questions and hen some. Good luck!

It depends on the maturity of the 11-year-old, but in general I think that 11 is too young. However, this might be a good age to start working as a "mother's helper," while the parent is still home. An 11-year-old can easily play with and entertain a younger child (probably not an infant under a year old) for a small hourly fee, and get used to the whole concept of babysitting this way under adequate supervision. Then, when she is about 13, she would be well-trained and very capable of babysitting on her own.

My daughter is almost 11years old. Our plan is to have her be a mommy's helper, so she will watch over the kids while the parents are home but involved in a project etc. But are there if there is a problem. At 11 years old they can take the babysitting class from the American Red Cross and get their babysitting certificate, here in Oregon anyway, may be different in different states.

Yes, I babysat when I was 11. But I don't think they should take care of a very little child. As long as the person is responsible she should babysit kids in between the ages of 4 - 10.

Check the laws in your state. In most states you have to be 13 or older to babysit. Some states don't even allow children to be left home alone until at least age 12. Check with your local Department of Job and Family Services.

Not ready in my opinion. Of course, every parent has a different level of paranoia. With my 11 year old, I'd be afraid if the child were choking. I dont think she's mature enough to know how to react quickly and not panic. If there was a fire, would she know how to stay calm and follow the drill. I think I'd wait until she's 13 or 14. A couple years can make a big difference.

NO. In some states you have to be at least 14 years old to babysit. It's also a plus to have take a babysitting class and first aid and C.P.R. That's to young she needs to enjoy her own childhood and not rush into making money. Most parents pick babysitters with experience.

For all those who are too dum to know requried age they need to go to this site and see for themselfs.

Too young in my opinion for strangers children however if its family related then you could give it a try.Is she responsible and know what to do in case of a fire? First aid is a must.If she has to babysit then let it be with older chidren from 5 upwards.Younger children and babies need an adult to supervise.

i know a girl who's 11. she babysits for money all the time. you just need to ask yourself if you think she is responsible enough to be in charge of little kids. maybe you can start out with the people that you know well. or if she has younger siblings, start with them. hope this helps!

Yes, if trained well on what to do. I hire 11 years olds because they play with the kids, not like teenagers who are on the phone the whole time! I just have a list of dos and don'ts for the sitter along with a lot of phone numbers if she needs help.

It depends on how responsible she is. And who it's for
If it's someone close to your house where you might stop by and check in on her. Than let her try. When I was younger I use to babysit all the time to make money.
