A stick/immersion blender is really useful if you don't want/need something more heavy-duty. It's a super handy tool to have in your kitchen anyway, much faster and easier to clean (very important ;) than a regular type blender.

Although I'd love to say KitchenAid (nothing wrong with KA!), an Oster will last a lifetime. My mother's from the 1960's still can crush up ice just great!
