prohibited by God? I was just reading something about the statue of the Virgin Mary at Fatima and how so many people travel to go and see her and kneel down and pray to her. NO WHERE in the bible does it say Mary is the intercessor, that it is okay to pray to Mary, NO WHERE does it talk about rosarys. The bible is very specific in what it says and it says JESUS is the intercessor between us and God, and the only way to get to heaven is through Jesus. It says to be forgiven we only need to ask sincerely, we don't need to say rosarys. We do not need to sacrifice animals anymore. Jesus is the Lamb and was sacrificed for ALL sins. I am not trying to judge the catholics because I believe that they are sincere in what they believe, but they are truly misguided. Catholics, when are you going to realize this? You must, before it is too late!! I am not saying Mary is not important. I have deep respect for her, but God simply used her to fulfill His plan

she is not part of God, the Son and the Holy Spirit. No where in the bible does it imply that she is.

I wasn't trying to attack any faith. I am trying to understand.

I am not trying to be judgemental. I am simply pointing out what the catholics do and telling them why it is wrong according to the bible. To be judgemental would be to say they are all bad. And I do not believe that they are all bad.

Yes it is true and any answer to the contrary is deliberately misleading.

Any mention of the Communion of Saints by Catholic apologists, pr agents and spin doctors is totally irrelevant to this question. So too is any argument that Mary is just considered one of the more important saints of the church.

Catholics worship, I mean as a Goddess- Mary as Queen of Heaven. That is precisely how she is viewed and many, thousands of churches have statues of Mary with a crown in recognition of this official catholic position for over 1600 years!

(431 CE) The Christian church through the Ecumenical Council of Ephesus presided by St. Cyril of Alexandria and Emperor Theodosius II did claim as church doctrine that Mary, may be officially worshiped as Mother of God

Catholics since 1871 also worship the Pope as a Living Deity (God) on Earth being infallible and therefore above all human law and all other human beings.

Jesus was human and never considered himself infallible, so today Pope Benedict is technically a more powerful God under the pantheon of Gods and saints of the Catholic Church.

Of course, such concepts are strenuously denied. So too are 20 centuries of crimes against humanity

Over and over we answer this.

We do not worship Mary, we honor her as the Mother of God, but we do not worship her.

I knew this even back when I was also a Protestant.

You agree that Mary is important and they you have great respect for her, we are on the SAME PAGE silly!

Who else do you think is spiritually important, and you have deep spiritual respect for on earth? Your parents? Your Pastor?

Do you ask them to Pray for you when you need help?

That is ALL we are doing by praying the Rosary, and the Rosary prayer is taken right out of the bible. What did the Angel say to Mary? Look it up.

Before bashing Catholics, you really should read the Catechism of the Catholic Church, then you will truly know what and why we believe as we do and not ask silly questions.

Not that I mind, I spent 40 years as a Protestant before educating myself about the Catholic faith and eventually even joining.

I don't expect you to join, but there is no reasons Catholics and Protestants should be mis-representing each other.

Good Luck in your search and God Bless you!

Audora (below two) Do you honor your father and mother? (It says to do this in the Bible. If so are you then worshiping them? (Like you claim in your post)?

I honor lots of people, and I Pray for lots of people, and others (I hope) Pray for me, but I ONLY worship God.

Good Grief!

Mary was a wonderful humanbeing...but she sin just like everyone eles. The only person not to sin is Jesus Christ.

You can't pray to a person who is dead.

Do souls die?

"The soul that sinneth, it shall die." Ezekiel 18:20. "Every living soul died in the sea." Revelation 16:3.

According to God's Word, souls do die! We are souls, and souls die. Man is mortal (Job 4:17). Only God is immortal (1 Timothy 6:15, 16). The concept of an undying, immortal soul goes against the Bible, which teaches that souls are subject to death.

Do good people go to heaven when they die?

"All that are in the graves shall hear his voice, And shall come forth." John 5:28, 29. "David ... is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day." "For David is not ascended into the heavens." Acts 2:29, 34. "If I wait, the grave is mine house." Job 17:13.

People do not go either to heaven or hell at death. They go to their graves to await the resurrection day. King David will be saved in God's kingdom. However, he is in his grave now, where he awaits the resurrection.

How much does one know or comprehend after death?

"The living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten. Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun." "There is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest." Ecclesiastes 9:5, 6, 10. "The dead praise not the Lord." Psalms 115:17.

God says that the dead know absolutely nothing!

Since Judgement day hasn't happen..people who die are still in there graves including Mary. There people in the bible who are in heaven right now (Moses Ennoch, Elliah) but no where in the bible it saids Mary is in heaven.

Yes Christian do pray for others but We pray for other people who are alive and they a pray for health or a safe drive etc.but we direct the prays to GOD. We don't pray to people who r dead and don't need to b/c we can go to God directly!

those people do not go pray to the statue or to mary, the go to the holy place to ask for her intercession that they may be healed or for whatever other prayer the would like her to aid them in. the same as you going to your pastor, parents family or friends to ask for them to pray to god for you.

hail mary full of grace
the lord is with thee
blesssed art thou amongst woman and blesssed is the fruit of thy womb, ,jesus(the first part taken pretty much directly from luke)

holy mary mother of god
PRAY for us sinners now
and at the hour of our death AMEN.

you will notice the prayer is not praying to mary but asking her to pray for us. if you ask your pastor etc to pray for you then you essentially are the doing the same thing you are against.

you talk so much about where in the bible it says this or that, where in the bible does it say that the bible is our sole source of authority or by faith alone we are saved,or being saved by a single act of accepting jesus christ as your personal lord and savior? the bible itself tells us that jesus did many things that the bible itself couldn't contain. if you research how the bible came to us you will see it was by oral tradition origionally and then written down. the bible is a catholic book. there is alot of detail to explain these things so here are some sites/suggeestions so you can understand better

read the bible in context
learn the history of the bible
learn a little about the authors or what is known about them
learn about the culture and the time of when the bible was written and teh message the author intended.

I think I must respect your point of view, because that was my position before. The essence of salvation is still in the Bible, but I am beginning to suspect that its compilation was influenced by our paternalistic society and the political forces of the time. Jesus was able to do what the Father requires because He did not rely so much on the scriptures but "on every WORD that God speaks." I am beginning to sense that the WORD is not the Bible. The WORD is Christ. The Bible is the LETTER referred to in 2 Corinthians 3:6. Remember that Saul was a man of letters. He new the scriptures well but he continued to persecute the Christians, until the Spirit intervened to transform him into Paul. Paul had direct tutorship with Christ from then on. That is what I am trying to reestablish now--direct tutorship with Christ. What we need is practice. Practice makes perfect. We have lost our skill to communicate with God. We must regain it.

I think the words spoken in the rosary are analogous to the psalms of David and the songs of Solomon. They have the same purpose--to reprogram the mind and heart to restrengthen our weakening faith and trust in God. We are not even sure if Jesus did not practice what David and Solomon did from 13 years old until the time He started His ministry.

If God did not tell the soul of Mary to go back to earh and talk directly to those who saw her in later centuries and years, fine. What if God really told her, and those who claim to have seen her were really telling the truth?

About animal sacrifices, I think I should also be cautious about this, because it is part of the teachings of the prophets. Indeed Jesus' death was a perfect sacrifice, but look at these passages. Matthew 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. Matthew 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

I appreciate your deep respect for Mary. And I am so happy that you realize Mary's important role in God's plan of salvation. I think if your search is sincere Mary or Jesus will lead you to the truth about Mary. We do not worship her this is forbidden. We honor her as the mother of Jesus and she is our friend who prays for us in our needs. May Mary lead you closer to her Son Jesus and may Jesus and Mary bless you. The rosary is in the bible. It is the life of Jesus and Mary. Yours in Jesus and Mary.

I'm unable to figure out why this is of such concern to you. If you are truly trying to understand, then do as someone else suggested here and -- if you can bring yourself to do so -- read what is said in the Catechism on this subject. If you still do not understand, then re-post a question. Otherwise, by singling out this one aspect of Catholicism (which has been done again, again, again, and again here on almost a daily basis) with the same old erroneous assumptions, you are most certainly being judgmental even as you throw a veil around it of apparent concern for our spiritual well-being. Perhaps it would be best to leave it to God to determine who is misguided.

first of all i am eastern orthodox christian and we and roman catholic do not worship mary this is a misinterpetation by protestants we honor mary and all the saints of god because they are in the presents of our lord and can intercessed for us you are mixing up the term meditor and intercessor a person in your church can pray for you and they are being intercessorly prays jesus is our only meditor between man and god and also the bible says at the annuniation when the angel gabriel appeared to mary he greeted her by saying hail mary full of grace the lord is with you bless are you among women and blessed is your womb and all generations will call you blessed
this is where the hail mary comes from the only thing catholics and orthodox add is the name jesus at the end of the pray

First of all praying to someone isn't worshiping them. They don't worship Mary, they HONOR her for her part of Christ. A Rosary is simply a way to help on focus on prayer and redemption. They completely believe that you must turn your life over to Jesus and God to be saved in heaven. You don't ask for forgiveness from a rosary genius. Its a tool of prayer, like looking at a cross.
Educate yourself please before you attack a faith.
*edit* They never said she was a part of the trinity. But she gave birth to the guy! That deserves some respect!

It's not about Protestants vs Catholics.
Such like is sow Hatfields vs McCoys;
A blame game inducts all in a hall of shame.

It's all about Law Law vs His Grace is sufficient.
Grace doesn't fault-find, accuse, condemn, nor blame.
Grace lets all the evidence make something "evident":
"that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God".

Grace doesn't prohibit(law) anyone.
Exhortation: "forbid(law) them not".
Exhortation: "sin(law) no more"

As for one Mary, of seven biblical Marys ment'd,
Jesus called his mother "Woman" on the cross,
as if to allegory say: look what your law law did;
Which (law/grace)things are an "allegory": Gal 4.

The woman, being deceived, was in the transgression.
Where no law, there [is] no transgression: Romans 4:15.
So then the woman, being deceived, was in the law.
And the allegory for woman is also the church.
So then the church, being dec'd, was in the law.

His Grace always lets. Eg: "let" there be light.
Eg: If any man be ignorant, "let" him be ignorant.
For it won't change the end that is already written:

The GRACE of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.
