Sorry I don't have a puppy, I got Treasure when she was 2 years old. She is a service dog that was trained by the state, and she does her job well. I can tell you though a Border Collie loves to play so be ready to play with your new friend and make sure you spend some time with them each day or their loyalty to you will wane.
And your right about them being smart they are said to be one of the smartest dogs in the world.

Our Border Collie is just a year old. Her name is Shadow. One smart little cookie there :) She's doing so well in our training classes!
