You should read "Evidence that Demands a Verdict" by Josh McDowell. He was an atheist who was so tired of Christians saying Jesus rose from the dead, that he set out on a research project to prove it was a fairy tale. Turned out that there was so much historical evidence for it that he became a Christian.

The government at the time thought someone would steal his body (because there were predictions of his resurrection), so they put a Roman guard unit (~15 trained soldiers) in front of his tomb, which was sealed with a boulder (so big it would take 20 men to move it), and a "Roman Seal" which has the Roman insignia on it. If anyone even tried to fight off the guards, and were caught trying to break the seal, the would have gotten crucified upside down. It's highly unlikely anyone would TRY, and near impossible that they would be successful.

But the guards fled (something scared them enough to risk their lives. Guards failing at their job meant crucifixion. And the stone was moved up and over a hill. Jesus grave clothes were empty. Then a multitude of people heard him speak after he was publically executed.

The disciples couldn't have stolen the bodies, the Roman guards were there to prevent that. Also, they were observing the Sabbath, it would have been unlawful for them to even try. The Jews wouldn't have stolen the body and then keep it quiet, because they had the most to lose by the bodies disappearance, they had already lost many people to Christianity before the crucifixion. The Romans wouldn't have stolen the body because they wanted Judaiah to remain stable, which is why they went along with the crucifixion in the first place, because they feared that there would be a riot if they hadn't.

So oddly enough, the Resurrection is all we have left!

Although, no one saw Jesus raise from the tomb, he did appear several times to his disciples and upward to 500 people saw him ascend to heaven. Acts 1: 9 & 10; Luke 24: 36-39; John 20: 14 & 15; John 21: 4-7 For 40 days after his resurrection, Jesus appeared in different bodies, perhaps to reinforce in their minds that he was a spirit creature. He was not first recognized, it was by what he said or did that they knew it was Jesus.

It is a guarantee to all of us that all of God's promises by means of Jesus will be fulfilled.
Acts 17: 31 "Because he has set a day in which he purposes to judge the inhabited earth in righteousness by a man who he has appointed, and he has furnished a guarantee to all men in that he has resurrected him from the dead."

There was an angel there at the tomb when the two Marys arrived and found Him gone. I would assume an angel to be a credible witness.

He later appeared to Mary Magdalene and the eleven apostles, so that rules out the possibilty of someone stealing the body since, obviously, He was alive.

Not possible !!! there were 12 roman soldiers there guarding
the tomb for just that purpose . You really need to do your
history first before telling us what you don't Know . Plus you
will find more than that had eyes on the Tomb as well and ,
other historical writings not in the Bible that confirm this great
event . May God take away your Blindness , Amen......

read John 20 (the whole chapter) Jesus appeared to many credible witnesses after His resurrection, and ascended to Heaven in front of many credible witnesses as well.

Anyone who knows anything about SECULAR Roman history knows that the Roman guards were extremely devout in their duties. There is NO WAY any followers of Jesus would've gotten past the guards on duty in order to steal the body. The very lives of the guards DEPENDED on it!

Nobody is recorded as actually seeing the exit from the tomb. However, there is recorded that hundreds of people saw him in person after the crucifixion and burial. He visited the twelve, the women by the tomb, the strangers on the road to Emmaus, and at one point 400 together. Then, in The Book of Mormon, it is recorded that He visited thousands in America at one time.
Yes, these are credible witnesses as long as you believe the scriptural record.

Watch the Tomb of Jesus if you ever get the chance. It covers this and its totally fascinating. If you can't watch it look it up. Its really cool.
It was Jewish tradition to take the body from the tomb to move to the family tomb. All it takes is one guard to let them in to do so. A possible follower or sympathizer that obviously denied it in the morning.
They had a lot of religious teachers on the show as well and many of them said that if this was indeed the tomb of Jesus it still didn't change their faith. They believed that Jesus was more then his earthly vassal and he still showed himself to his believers. It was a REALLY cool documentary.

Well, I believe the Bible is the Word of God. I believe the Bible had around 44 writers but one author and that author was God. You choose not to believe, there is nothing that I could say or do that would sway you.. .I won't try to. I do believe that Jesus was the son of God, that He came into this world with a purpose, that he full filled that purpose and that He rose from the dead. It is simple as that, I was saved by faith and now I live in faith.

Is it possible that you need to be in a relationship with the Lord? From this question I think so. There were Roman guards in front of the rock that was rolled in front of the tomb. No one is going to get past them. Okay now you may say what about Jesus' disciples? They were fishermen and tax collectors. They are not going to be able to over power Roman guards trained to fight all their life. Peace out......................
