All good, bold questions. I've found it is best to break the big questions into smaller ones. Even more difficult but useful has been the willingness to say that I just don't know. It's a little scary to do that, but sometimes no opinion is better than a bad one.
I recommend spending a few days reading the works of the classical Greek philosophers; Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle. They make a good starting point.
Philosophical inquiry has lead me to rethink the very questions I ask. I had spent years looking for a dogma to live by, but have found that the truth has eluded all of them. For me, there appears to be no one big answer. It has been a comfort, however, to have found many small answers.
In the end, there may not be a capital "T" Truth, merely the small kind of truth that we can see with our eyes and feel with our hands.

Who knows? I guess we're all just inhabitants of this tiny blue planet in the middle of the universe. We're born, we live, we die, and then everyone forgets we ever existed. Kind of humbling, isn't it?
