But ponder this question for a moment, if it really is eternal and unchanging, then shouldn't all see and interpret it in the exact same way.
We can even go further and say that since none of the authors spoke or wrote English, the fact that it is now translated in English is proof that it has changed, and the several differing versions that slightly rework passages (Look for Asherah in the KJV, and then in any other translation) shows that it is constantly changing. If the holy spirit is needed to interpret the bible, why does there need to be any language translation or different versions at all?
If the holy spirit gives the 'gift of tongues' and interpreting tongues, why not the gift of bible translation from source?
Sean W: While 'old' translations such as the KJV are now old enough for copyright laws not to apply, newer translations such as the NIV are copyrighted for the standard term of 50 years. I've seen the copyright notice in the front. What is interesting about it is that in order to copyright a book, it must be shown to be an original work and not a derived work. So, by law all modern translations and versions of the bible are NEW works, and the implication of this is that since copyright can only be granted to people or entities made up of people, that the 'new' copyrighted bibles are made by PEOPLE, not god.

Since there is no consensus on how we allegedly evolved, would you say that that invalidates the Theory of Evolution? Contradictory interpretations do not mean that all such interpretations are wrong, only that not all of them can be correct.

Yes, but those with knowledge of the original languages can compare the translations with the manuscripts and help illuminate passages that are hard for foreign speakers to understand and correct any translations that do not convey the original idea.

There's also a change between saying "I don't think you've proven your point" and "I think you haven't proven your point", but they mean virtually the same thing.

You have a narrow experience of Christianity then.
Christianity existed before the Bible existed and existed as the books of the Bible were being written. Christians never even called the Bible "The Bible" until the 4th or 5th centuries. Furthermore, there is division among Christians as to the authority of the bible. Catholics and Orthodox believe that the Bible is an authority along with the Church herself. Non-Catholics believe that the bible is the sole authority.
You said that: "the fact that it is now translated in English is proof that it has changed", that is simply a weak argument. The Hebrew and Greek versions of the Old and New Testaments exist, furthermore we have writings from the earliest Chrisitans that gave us clues as to how they interpreted the "gospels" and "letters".
A translation does not change the essential meaning of the original. If that was the case, I would be missing out because I never read "Les Miserables" in its original French and it would mean that the French version of the "DaVinci Code" is even worse than the English.
You are also confusing the written word with the living Word. When someone says "In the beginning, was the Word", it does not mean "In the beginning, was the Bible". The living Word is unchanging.

God's word is eternal and unchanging; translations are another matter. That is why we should use more than one biblical resource when we actually STUDY scripture. Most of them say the same thing, just in a different way because of the translation.
Many Christians simply believe it's enough to show up in church on Sundays and get what they need from the sermon; but God directs us to study His word. A church bible study group doesn't satisfy my hunger for the word, because the ones I've attended pretty much boil down to reading a passage of scripture then answering questions that are basically just asking you to repeat what you just read. I have a concordance and a Greek/Aramaic/Hebrew dictionary to use for deeper study, as well as a KJV, an NIV, and a Living Bible for comparison. God reveals His purpose / meaning to all who diligently seek to know Him. He just doesn' t use the same format for everyone - we're individuals and He treats us / deals with us as such.

Actually, there IS a consensus. There are however, so many others that are willing to twist words and meanings, and people that come with their already decided agendas, and the unlearned. Yeah, you'll hear so much stuff that isn't true that it'll make the real thing sound just as phony.
God's words and meanings have not changed...the language of man is the thing that's changed. If you dig for the truth, even going into the languages of Hebrew and Greek, you can get it.

The Word is eternal and unchanging. People interpret the bible differently because God has a different message for each person, fitting his or her situation or problem in life. As for all the different English translations of the bible, keep in mind that the bible can not be copyrighted, so there is no money in publishing it. Any changes open the re-worded work to copyright laws and that means money for the publishers. You do not need to believe in God, or the Word. Everyone has free will to choose what he or she believes. Just keep in mind that the truth is the truth and doesn't change because of what people believe.

The Bible is the living word of God.If you have studied the Bible through the years,you will see that fact first-hand.As you grow in your christian walk,the word speaks to you on different levels.We understand and feedthe Holy Spirit that dwells within us.The more you read Gods word,the stronger you grow as a child of God.Just as our physical bodies need food to grow and function,so does our spiritual body need the Bible(bread of life) to grow and function.

There's no consensus among "carnal" people.
There is a consensus among grace us people.
The consensus is: "grace is sufficient", period.
Grace is eternal, it can't lie(law) nor die(law).
Butt Law Law notably does both: lies & dies.
