Have you tasted fermented(Alcoholic) Palm Juice?

In Sothern /Eastern/Western India,(Coastal Areas) Sri lanka(Ceylon) people use sweet Palm juice fermented Alcoholic Drink.Do people of any other part of the world use it?

Yeh, I have tried it in a restaurant. Tastes okay with certain types of food. Goes well with shrimp curry.
