A guy I know (army guy) is going to Iraq, and he'll be protecting the Chaplin guy (Spelled wrong?).

Whats the chances that he'll........die....... :'(

As a former chaplain I'd say probably about the same as anyone else.

Everyone over there takes safety very seriously and the precautions are in place - but accidents happen and the stray bullet or stray piece of shrapnel is unpredictable.

Having bodyguard duty can sometimes mean you are in generally safer surroundings - but sometimes someone like a chaplain can be a special target. I suspect in the long run it evens out so the odds remain about the same

Chaplains are not allowed to carry weapons hence the need for CA who's jobs are to cover them.

Yes God has his back just as he has everyone's over there. If it's your time it's your time weather you are in Iraq or the States or Antartica.

His life expectency has not be shortened. This is not a more dangerous job than any others.

I would rather have him over there then the new media. At least he will good a good job. But like others said above, when the Lord calls him home he will go no matter where he is.

slim.. the chaplains aid and the chaplain are not likely to die at all unless its an accident or now a roadside bomb (ied) or maybe a lucky mortar round

honestly? he has more of a chance at dieing in a car accident when he returns home to the States.
