There's a curfew at Charleston??? When did they institute that???

Military members are NOT baby sitted. They can come and go as they please, provided that they show up for work on time, sober, and perform all assigned duties.

There aren't any "soldiers" stationed at Charleston Air Force Base, as this is an Air Force Base. There are Airmen in the Air Force and soldiers in the Army. There is no curfew for air force personnel, with the exception of a few overseas bases, such as Kunsan, South Korea, and the curfew only applies to off base, not on base.

first, as other answerers pointed out, army troops are the only ones referred to as "soldiers", air force are "airmen", navy is "seamen" and marines are "marines".

second,
there is not generally a curfew implemented for military personnel on US bases, however, if that troop is in some sort of trouble or there is some sort of unrest in that area, then there may be an offbase curfew. it will usually be applied based on rank and pertain to offbase activities, like going off base to a bar and coming back to base by midnight.

generally, curfews are only implemented to overseas bases. for example, my husband is a marine in japan right now. they are on a US marine base, BUT anyone SGT and below must be back on base by midnight with a buddy system.
now, they occasionally lift the curfew, but it's for their protection b/c they aren't liked by the towns people right now.
in fact, they aren't even allowed in many of the local bars and restaurants right now.

hope that helps answer your question.
