If God is our father and we are children of God, how can we not be gods also?

This is a very peculiar question and to my mind displays some muddled thinking.
Zoologically speaking, humans are related to the great apes. The amount of distance of that relationship vary somewhat, depending on the scientist. Geneticists reckon over 99% of our DNA is shared, which is good enough evidence for most people. The fossil record is unfortunately patchy, this being simply an artifact of how few specimens we have of near-humans relatives. All of the current fossils we have would fit neatly into a medium-sized packing case.
So to answer the question. Human beings give birth to human beings, not monkeys. Monkeys are a different species. I suppose if the DNA of a monkey was embedded into a human egg, then it would be possible, but only in artificial circumstances.
On the meta-physical side of things, we are not gods either. The phrase "children of God" should not be taken literally. I do believe we are part spirit, a physical-spiritual combination that makes a complete whole. But that is only a belief. I cannot prove it. It is a matter of faith.

There is no God.
Humans give birth to defected humans all the time. Some of these look like monkey/humanoids, not to mention the humans born with tails.

"Can humans give birth to monkeys?" Why not? A lot of jackasses and other little men in high places are the offspring of human beings. So, as I said, why not a monkey? Why not talking snakes and talking donkeys and talking bushes as well?

Because we are created to SERVE God, not to be gods.A servant is not above his master,but he can be like his master. Our master is Jesus and through Him we can be like God. This means that we should follow his ways,obey,forgive,and serve him faithfully..
We, humans,because of sin have fallen. We are above the creatures of this world,but a little lower than the holy Angels.
And also, we can not be gods, because there is only ONE- true God.We are his children because he created us in his own image and we continue to be his children if we obey and serve him with all our hearts.
