Vista is great! I love the sleek new look, doing things are a little more easier. I didn't have to change any of my hardware when I went from XP to Vista. I have Vista Ultimate.

Vista is faster, more stable, and quite a bet more secure then XP. I've been using it for about 3 months and have had no problems. Be careful when you buy, you want Vista Home Premium, not Home Basic.
Vista is the operating system of the future. XP is now an "old" operating system and Microsoft will be dropping support for it in the future, just like they did for WIN98.

Has a nice GUI interface in it, but everything else is pretty much the same. I have Vista and it works just as good (not really better) than XP, yet I will admit I do enjoy the new outlook and ease-ability in some aspects than before. This is especially true with the Microsoft Suite 2007 (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) In fact, I am surprised you still even have a choice now; everything now is slowly becoming Windows Vista only.

Vista is horrible right now because it is brand new and there are still some glitches with it. I would say keep XP for about a year and then buy Vista once they get the first service pack for it

Not worth the upgrade.
You don't need a new computer
I have an older computer with new parts on it
I could still get it
but it's not worth the extra money to upgrade to it.
The new look is pretty nice, but if that's all you're getting it for
download a skin for XP.
As for the searching, it's easier, but for people who are used to using traditional windows search tecniques, it'd take a while to get used to.
I'd say, don't upgrade.
It's just not worth it right now.
The jump between ME and XP was huge
The jump between XP and Vista is pretty minimal

vista is totally new and hasnt settled in as yet.......
it is resource hungry enough to bring any medium level system down to its knees.so unless u have a superpowerful laptop.....
also, not many programs that work with xp are compatible with vista....including games
so maybe u can wait for a while and then get vista( after it settles in or u can go for xp...

The same kinda thing just looks a bit better. If you gota pc more than a year old dont get it its designed for the very latest expensive pc's. Also i found it just confuses people and alot of applications wont run on it as of yet. Stick to XP it's much better on the whole unless you wanna show off to your friends who will probably just laugh at you if you do get it.
good luck,
David
