I think it's a book of stories that should not be taken literally.

My 9 year old and 5 year old can read and understand the Bible. Children are taught at an early age to be able to tell when a story or section of writing is written literally or figuratively. It is not a hard concept to comprehend.
Here is the point: let the Bible speak for itself and when you see it in the Book believe it for what it says. Paul said of Timothy, "From childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures . . ." (II Timothy 3:15). If a child can understand it, can’t you?
Further, if you say that you cannot understand it, you are charging God with requiring of you more than you are able to perform, for we read, "Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth" (II Timothy 2:15). We urge you to follow the example of the Bereans: "These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so" (Acts 17:11).

Children are indoctrinated into the belief systems of their parents. Most people don't question the religion of there upbringing, hence they continue the religious tradition. If a child's parents are Christian, the child will, most of the time, believe the Bible to be true. We don't often question our parents experience when it comes to important issues.
Remember that most Americans once believed in Santa Claus because our parents told us he was real. But we stopped when we realized there was no way for one man to visit all the children in world in one night. That would be insane!! Oh, so would a virgin birth, walking on water, and changing water into wine.
The Bible is a tradition passed from one generation to the next. While we should question the things that don't make sense, most are to scared to do this. They are told that they will spend eternity in hell for thinking for themselves! I

I don't know, between the ages of 10 and 53 I took it literally that Pluto was a planet.
I recall being taught that in school.
Should science be taken seriously?
I mean they are NOW trying to tell us there are hundreds of "known" planets on other stars because they see some undulations.
Do we buy into it and what happens in say 2,000 years if someone sends a probe there and finds nothing.
What do we do about 2,000 years of FALSE education.

The bible was written by men, who had an agenda to control people. The Bible is full of lies, murder, and deceit, all in the name of god. I find it repulsive! I agree that there are some good parts to the Bible, but the god in the OT is one hell of a mean dude who commands people to murder in his name. That is not a god that I will ever follow. It should not be taken literally!

I am 14 and I believe that the Bible is every bit truth and inspired by God.
I think the Bible is the best book ever and no other book has ever or will ever compare and every bit of it should be taken seriously.

The bible as well as religion in general is stupid. Religion isn't real. Religion was created back in the day as the first form of government. To scare people into what "they(leaders) saw fit." Not to be taken literally and believe there is someone who saved us and all that over crap

The Bible is a nice piece of fiction. But it should not be taken seriously. I mean that would be like taking Le Morte De Arthur seriously. Sure there is historical connection that doesn't mean it is all true.

I didn't believe it was true at that age, and I never will. There may be a God out there, but it's certainly not the one in the Bible.
