Stretch marks are lines that occur (as the name suggests) when your skin is stretched at a faster rate than your body's skin is naturally able to elongate and grow to compensate. As it is, the skin is very flexible and stretchable because naturally as we grow and develop our body gets bigger and our skin grows in conjunction to compensate for this. However, when a person gains a *quick* and drastic amount of weight (say in their thighs, buttocks, breasts, arms, or stomach like in pregnancy) their body's skin is "stretched" faster than it has time to grow. This is what causes the line.

As far as what can be done about this, there are some creams that can be used to lighten and smooth that area of the skin - coca butter for one. However, there is no way to completely ride yourself of stretch marks once they occur. But further still, they are not something that should be too focused on... most of the time they are not really noticed by others - but seem SO obvious to you. Just live, laugh, and love I say. Cheers!

Two of the main reasons stretch marks may appear is from skin tightness and rapid growth or tragedy. Nowadays there are some incredible products that can actually make your skin more stretchable, and prevent or eliminate stretch marks altogether.

A large percentage of pregnant women get stretch marks on their stomach, and more than 75% of women develop stretch marks around the waist, stomach, upper legs, butt and breast during pregnancy. However, even though there are creams to help these stretch marks, pregnant women are advised against using them. These creams have a high vitamin A content, which can really affect a developing fetus.

Another option is to visit a dermatologist and get various prescribed creams such as Retin-A. Various experiments on use of this cream have shown a considerable decrease in stretch mark size. This medication is not recommended for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, because the effects it may have on your baby are unknown.

i think its where the lower layers of your skin are stretched. The collagen, which gives skin its strength and elasticity, become thinner and broken. This results from excessive stretching of the skin. Some women get it when pregnant, body builders get them if there muscle growth is quick. Ive actually got some on my back cos i grew so quickly as a teen.

To get rid of them there are all sorts of creams which claim to work but really do little. Lasers can stimulate new collagen cells to grow and lessen the marks. As some have also said i think surgery is also an option.

Hope that helps

Stretch marks do begin to vanish through the years however regrettably they not ever fairly depart. Some spots seem worse than others. Avon has fade lotions (of which I am a gigantic fan) however you have got to hold making use of them along side consistent creams to hold your epidermis hydrated. If you ever do uncover a method to fully rid your self of a stretch mark you're going to be an overly wealthy and trendy lady. (and also you have to permit me understand so I can take a look at your product) lol

Stretch marks or striae, as they are called in dermatology, are a form of scarring on the skin with a silvery white hue. Stretch marks are generally associated with pregnancy and obesity. Stretch marks are the result of the rapid stretching of the skin associated with rapid growth (e.g. puberty) or weight gain (e.g. pregnancy), and anabolic steroid use. Although the skin is fairly elastic, rapid stretching of the skin will leave permanent stretch marks. (Source: WD Writers). Stretch marks (also referred to as striae distens
