Why is it ironic? Mneme in Greek means memory. Mnemonic in Greek is something that relates to memory

Phonetics is also Greeks for what is related to the voice (phone). It is spelled with ph because that is how Greeks words are transcribed into foreign languages.

Conclusion: learning some Greek would help most people understand their own language better. The same about latin.

In 2nd language training we call it TPR or entire actual reaction. i exploit it coaching Spanish as the thank you to cue the extra youthful ones. this may be a sort of mnemonic, yet i'm undecided.

It's weird, that's for sure... And for that matter, why in the world is the word "phonetics" NOT spelled like it sounds??? You would think that - of all the words in the dictionary, this one would be spelled like it sounds! But no....
