Ray - open your mind a little bit. what if when we die, it's just a continuation of life and our soul or spirit or whatever transports to some other dimension that we created in our minds?

I actually hope we're all wrong. Somehow that seems like so much more fun.
"Oh my, I had never imagined THAT!!", sound like a better way to start my afterlife than "Yeah, I knew that, dohh".
Btw, it's impossible that we are all right. I strongly believe that I will get massages from Cameron Diaz, Riegan and Shannyn Sossamon (yeah, I have weird taste) in the afterlife. But I'm fully aware of the fact that these three people deserve a nice afterlife as well.

I agree! That's what I think. We are creative beings and so we can create our own experience of the afterlife.
I helped with a study on near-death experiences once that was very interesting. The images that people who were not from Western culture were very different than those from Western cultures... unless you looked at everything as symbolic. If you take the window dressing off, they were experiencing the same things, but they were interpreting it differently.
I came to the conclusion that the structures we use to explain and describe the afterlife are all just metaphors after all.

If I'm going to believe in an afterlife, what you've described is exactly what I want to have happen. It would be nice to know that I could create whatever world I wanted to live in for the rest of eternity. I'd populate it with relatives who are no longer around, and I'd resurrect my childhood so I could see them at a much younger age. I could relive key moments or I could change them over and over until I got them right.
Good question. I've thought about this a number of times, myself.

I would love to believe I will have an afterlife in a fancy spa getting foot rubs from Brad Pitt while I eat calorie free Bon Bons. That would be nice. I doubt that there is anything after death, though. Just nonexistence. I guess anything is possible, though. Unfortunately, dead people have so far remained silent on the issue of the afterlife.

I guess anything is possible. Like you said none of us will know until we die. I just think at that time it's when we really lsee what is. That's when we no longer care who was wrong or right. That is when we will leave our human thoughts behind. Dang it's almost 10:30, I really need to get busy here.
It's funny how the few who disagree can't even wrap their heads around any other possibilities.

I have often wondered that. If we see what we believe here on earth could the after life be any different? We go where we believe we will go?
The Gods take on many forms. They are gods, they can do that. So who is to say that its not all true and in the end we see what we want to?
Good question.

i believe we make our own destinies and that our life is not planned out by some unseen force. but i only believe in what i can see, religion in my eyes is just something people use to make themselves feel safe and secure. There is just to many religions out there to choose from and if there is one god and one only then why is he letting us worship false beliefs and religions that is big disrespect to him. Many people will get mad at me for saying this but i can believe what i want and so can everyone else and not be criticized for it. i just dont believe in any religions, i believe when we die we die its just to unfathomable to think that there is a god or even an afterlife. But what really bothers me is people preaching about their religion and trying to get people to follow it, if we have not done it yet then we never will people STOP PREACHING.

If all of us are right, then conversely, nobody is wrong. Whether you apply that to the afterlife or just our lives in general it creates only chaos and mediocrity.

Then why was Jesus crucified for the sins of mankind? Because He's the only way to be rescued from the pits of hell. Read your Bible and trust Him. Otherwise, you will keep allowing satan to keep spinning your wheels questioning, yet never ending up satisfied and secure in the One who created your life.
