In the questions I asked about Christians being intolerant, I found that I for one am intolerant and that I believe that the Bible is intolerant of sins but forgiving of the sinner that wants to repent..
Do you think that there will be some middle ground or will we eventually divide the USA over this?? or is divide too extreme, but I see some serious division coming over these issues..

If anything, I have found it to be the other way around. Anyone who claims to be a christian usually gets made fun of, has nasty things written about them, etc.

People who don't like christians are always painting us as haters, and they are trying to pass laws that make it a crime for us to speak out against things we feel are sinful. Take for instance, Homosexuality: I don't hate homosexuals, but I do not like what I consider to be a sin, namely same sex- sex.
Some of these people are constantly pushing their lifestyle on the public, even going so far as to try to teach it to five year olds.
Some others who hate us, are trying to take away the basis of law, namely the ten commandments, in courtrooms. They are even trying to take "In God we trust" off of the money, and they are trying to make it a crime to pray in public.

On the other hand, Christians are forgiving, and we welcome all people to the church, and all we ask is that they live a pure life and walk with God.

Tolerance will only happen and middle ground be found, when people respect our wishes and understand our desires.

I am Jewish but will try to shed some light upon this question by your leave. The basic tenet of Christian religions as I understand them is that all people have sinned and need to accept G-d and then behave in a way that is peculiar to whatever branch of Christianity to which you belong. All this is fine, attempts to assure good moral behavior, family values, etc. The hitch seems to be that most Christians believe that their 'brand' of religion is the only correct path to worshipping G-d and the afterlife and that they are charged with the directive to teach others about this. Even the 'teaching' of this is offensive to other religions. Who is any man to judge another? And you must have judged all if you indiscriminately proselytize. A lot of members of other religions do not place such importance on the afterlife, recognize that all people have a right to whatever their beliefs, valid or invalid -- from a personal point of view -- may be, and leave all other people alone. If someone wants to learn about a different type of worship they are free to come and ask and will be graciously received and instructed as that person wishes. Being 'pushy' about religion, even with good intent, simply causes misunderstandings, hurt feelings and division in the USA. Live and let live. May all His children find their paths home to worship Him.

P.S. I atone for and try to not commit sins constantly as a part of my religion. I have one special day each year for this but it is constantly on my mind as is the Most Holy One. I practice "Tikum olam", repairing the world, by setting a good example, such as maintaining moral values, being worshipful, studying Torah, being charitable, etc.

Now, my question to you is can tolerance be achieved w/o compromising the Word of God and our faith? I believe as you do re: the intolerance of sin & forgiveness. We must not compromise what we know to be true--I think the only middle ground would be to agree to disagree.

I don't think that there will ever be agreement.
I see this as the sinners wanting Christians to, not only tolerate their sin, but approve and legalize their sin and this is not going to pass with a Bible believing Christian.
We love the homosexual, but do not approve of his sins, and must condemn the sin, but love the sinner..
In the case of homosexuality, tolerance for them is that it is taught as a accepted lifestyle in the schools. This is directly opposed to what christians believe. The fact that they do this in private is one thing, but that they want it taught as correct in the schools is another, and I see that this will eventually cause a lot of problems in the future as each side takes a harder stand..

Tolerance here is wrongly defined.
Tolerance is the ability to live with others despite strong disagreements and personal differences.
Now days, tolerance is being CHANGED to imply that it is intolerant to believe that I am right and you are wrong. That is simply not true. If no one believed that they were right, and everyone believed that everyone else's ideas were equally true and valid, we would all be brain dead.

Christians are, and have "usually" (not always, see middle ages and northern ireland) been tolerant of others in the true sense of the world. That does NOT mean that they have to believe that sin is not sin, or other beliefs that contradict their own are equally valid. So, if that is what you mean, I for one, plan to NEVER be "tolerant" or "in agreement" with people who I believe to be wrong....Just as I would not be "tolerant" of wrong answers on a math test or wrong diagnosis at the doctors office.

To Hinds Feet, you say hidden homosexuality is ok. But not out in the open. So your saying sin is ok as long as it is hidden?? Some christian you are. I am an aetheist and I do love all good people. Meaning people who don't kill, hurt and destroy others. Homosexuality is love, it doesn't hurt anyone. Maybe if you focused more on being a good person and less on staying straight less people would turn away form your god.

I think that the Bible teaches you to love everyone, but to hate the sin. It also teaches not to associate with non-believers. Theya re told to preach the gospel and save the lost. Therefore , while they may be tolerant, they will always try to save the lost.

Christians are not be accepting of non-beliefs as part of their beliefs. You can be tolerant, but not accepting in what is God's will for us. Pluralism, Relativism are big problems in the US. Some say it is OK for their beliefs, but not Christian beliefs or Christian practices or observances.

It is kind of a two way street... christians don't agree with atheists... and atheists don't agree with christians... Sometimes Christian's are more cruel with their screaming about hell, satan, and demons...but Atheists can be just as cruel with the use of other words... but if we ever agreed... I think I would faint... I mean I am an atheist opposite of a Christian I can tolerate them... and even respect them... but to agree... that is a different story...
