I was married in a Catholic church more than 13 years ago. I have researched the Catholic religion for a few years now. Im sure many priests and nuns believe they are doing the work of God. I have found that the Catholic church is one big cult disguised as Christian but is not. Do you think my marriage is blessed by God or not? I have prayed about this and know what I need to do just wondering what some people think. Peace out................

Im not interested in a debate here Paul but what were Jesus' last words? It is finished. Thats it paid in full. Dont get me started on Catholicisms idols they bow to. The church does not and can not save you only Jesus can. Perhaps you need to research a little. Peace out..........

Doug all Im confused about is your answer. Perhaps you and Paul should get together and do a little research. Read what the Bible says. Then think of what goes on at a Mass. Read what Jesus says. Then take a look at the Eucharest. Read the Ten Commandments then take a look around your Catholic church. If you dont see whats wrong then you have been brainwashed. Peace out..........

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I believe your marriage still 100% good and with all the blessing that comes from God, but if you still have doubts have a baptize or Pentecostal minister come to your home and married you and your wife again.

You sound like a very troubled and confused individual.

The primary "ministers" of the sacrament of matrimony are the man and woman who give their consent ... and if they are Christians ... and nothing unholy is going on ... then the marriage is typically considered valid.

For Catholics, a sacramental rite is required to ensure that the union is appropriately blessed by God, and also properly acknowledged by the rest of the faith community.

Fortunately, Jesus doesn't believe that the only church he ever personally founded, authorized, empowered, and eternally guaranteed, is a cult ... and it's your opinions about Catholicism that lead me to believe that you're confused.

Jesus founded his church, and he personally guranteed it until the end of time, to lead all to salvation in his grace.

He knew that Satan would first have to be cast out, which he did at Calvary, but then, only a holy and powerful church would be up to the task of "occupying" the earth in the name of God, and carrying on his work of redemption ... and that's why Jesus founded his church.

Without the Church ... the continuing and powerful presence of God on the earth ... things would have gone downhill pretty fast ... just as they are doing in today's society .. and to a large extent that's because people like yourself don't realize that, as Christians, they're called to support the Church and be obedient to it, rather than trying to tear it down, or trying to replace it with a bible, plus their own personal opinion (which is now a well established, but still completely improper, protestant tradition.)

The Catholic Church carries out Christ's work of redemption in the world ... a job that you seem to think is finished .. but is in fact, a mission that is renewed every time another soul is born into the world.

Without an authoritive, powerful, grace-filled, and infallible Church ... a Church that belongs to Christ, and is made holy by his presence alone ... all would soon be lost.

You need to do a lot more praying to figure this one out, and you need some serious Catholic theological education, as well.

You have been deceived ... and that's why you're so confused.

I believe it is blessed by God. Do some more researching of what is in your heart. I'm Catholic and it is blessed by God, I've been to a number of marriages in the Catholic Church as I've served at many of them, I've seen a bunch of Catholic couples be so blessed and fruitful with love for each other.

Many of the early Christians would have been married in a non Christian context and their marriages were blessed by the Lord. Take comfort from 1 Corinthians 7 v. 14: "For the unbelieving husband has been sanctified through his wife and the unbelieving wife has been sanctified by the believing husband." I don't know whether your wife shares your conclusions, but hang onto that advice from Paul. It might help you to know too that when people leave the Roman Catholic Church to become, for example, Anglicans or Episcopalians, they cannot be re-baptised or reconfirmed because the sacraments of the Roman Catholic Church are entirely valid. That would go for your marriage too.

Well, I am not Christian, but I do have a "relationship" with God, so here goes:

I believe that your marriage is consecrated by God if you and your spouse love and honor each other. A church weddingreally is only a formal (and expensive) way of asking God to bless your union. I think you can do that without the Church at all.

Blessings!

Since you were married in the Church founded by Jesus Christ, the only Church He ever intended to exist, your marriage is truly sacramental and truly blessed. I would worry a lot more if you were married in one of the thousands of unauthorized conflicting manmade denominations that have sprung up within the past few hundred years, in direct violation of the stated will of God, "that they all may be ONE". I suggest you get rid of your Chick tracts and other spiritual pornography, and truly research the Holy Catholic Church using authoritative and reliable sources. But only if you are interested in the trruth.

Some Christians do view Catholicism as a cult. I think that you married at a time in your life where you believed in the values of the Catholic church in good faith. I am sure your marriage is blessed by God as that is the desire in your heart and you married in good faith, Catholic or not.

Yes it is blessed by God. I am sorry, but I suspect you didnt want to hear that. When you took the vows, you did so before God, and God recognised those vows. You gave your word to God and to your wife. I agree with you in part about the catholic church, it is steeped in idolatry amongst other things. But it also upholds some good values too, like it is against abortion. So you cant negate your vows because you disagree with the catholic church I am afraid.

I am not against any other religions involving Christianity. You just have your preferences. I personally, honestly, don't view catholics as colts. I view them a Christians with a different preference. If you are both Christians than I know you are blessed by god! Now, if one of you weren't Christians, then probably not!

Regardless of the beliefs of those who blessed your marriage, you can ask God to bless it now. The past is the past, and God will honor your obedience to him and love for your spouse. That is the important thing!

Blessing is really between you, spouse, and God, NOT the people who did your marriage ceremony.
