i must admit i never knew or saw a diesel 9 series, the 7 series engine is a 6 cyl variant of the audi 5cyl parts gobbler, with a turbo hung on it. in it's day they preformed well [acceleration] for a diesel but it is a grease slinging turd from hell. if you let the timing belt go or run it hot.they destroyed themselves. these things blew head gaskets left and right even before they put the turbo on [240 diesel] [ i have made many many house payments over the last 20 years off of these engines]. the rest of the car is Volvo great. [note if the body and interior are in perfect shape it may be worthwhile to convert to gas

Having "Diesel" on the rear of a Volvo is better than having a Club on the steeering wheel.

Bad series and bad engine IMO. Trouble all the way.
