besides showing up to work on time, seem interested in her kids/ or personal life. ALWAYS, ALWAYS let her talk and don't rush her as if you don't care

I've had lady bosses for most of my life. The most important thing about keeping a lady boss happy is to do your job and do it well. No amount of chatting her up about her family and kids will help if you are not performing as expected.

Your highest priority is to meet her expectations. So you need to know what she expects. Touch base often to synchronize your priorities to her expectations.

It may be helpful to read something like Mars & Venus in the Workplace, but be aware that you must be sincere, not just pretend to be sincere. The rumor is that women are more intuitive (I think that men are as well) so they have a pretty good BS detectors.

I've met women who *hate* Mars & Venus because they see it as manipulative, teaching men how to manipulate women to get what they want. So be sincere, whatever you do.

Some guys try to flatter the boss, and that may get them some ground initially. If they don't follow up with performance and execution they will lose that gain.

I have a lady boss as well. Very tough to get along with! Try to act interested in her life/family/kids. Ask questions about her weekend and pretend to be interested. It will cause her to believe that you can connect on a friendly level, which obviously will make your work relationship easier. If that doesn't work, "brown nosing" never hurts either. Ask to help her with projects or assignments that are time consuming... Take a little stress off of her load and she will be in a better mood during the day! I really hope this works for you, like it does for me.
