Why do women not realize they have a choice? If you do not want the baby then why is it so hard to just put the little binkers up for adoption? I don't know if this is for all states but here in Illinois, they passed the law where you could have the baby and if you did not want to even be on record, you could leave the baby at a safe place like a hospital or fire station and not be held criminally negligent. PLEAAASSSE women, wake up and stop thinking about only yourselves. There are choices. What is your input on the behavior of some of these young women.

U B HAPP - I do not have statistics but I have seen this story several times a year throughout the world and it seems to be an epidemic. Same story and setting, different silly girl.
AMERICAN - I despise irresponsible men who have unprotected sex and then leave their responsibility on the woman. I, as a woman have to take responsibility for my self and my actions. When it comes down to the crime of dumping a baby, the crime will fall on the birthing mother who abandoned it, not the irresponsible father that knocked her up, he may not even know about the situation.

Yes, I agree. There is not much excuse for abortion or dumping babies after birth. Please let someone have the baby.
Even the most hated Jerry Falwell (God bless him) provided free housing and all pre-natal and medical expenses paid if the woman would agree not to abort. He would even take the baby and find it a good home with someone who would love the baby as their own. There was only one catch-let the baby live.
There is no reason to kill a baby-please let someone have it-don't kill it.
God help us all.

It makes me sick (and very sad) when I hear stories like this. I am NOT pro-choice by any stretch of the imagination, but if it means saving a newborn from starving/freezing to death, sometimes I think it would be better for these women to abort. I'd like to know how any woman with a conscience can leave a child in a dumpster. They've bothered to carry the pregnancy to term, so they must have SOME compassion/common sense. Why go through an entire pregnancy only to abandon your baby in a very unsafe and dangerous place?

I can't even put words to it...its just so sad. About a month back..maybe not even that....a woman left her son in the restroom at a park in the next county. Here in Ohio, like Illinois you have 72 hours to take the baby to a hospital, firestation or police station with no questions asked.
If these women would do take the child to these places they would give their child a chance, and a chance for those who want a child so they can adopt instead of leaving the child left to die.
Also in Ohio, another mother threw her newborn into a river and was found on Easter Sunday.

California already has a law that allows women to leave their newborn at a firehouse, hospital, doctors office and I think the police station now without filling out papers only any medical needs and no fear of arrest.
Baby dumping has dropped to almost none since it started a few years ago.
Why all states do not have this law is beyond reason.

They aren't like you or me. I understand what you are saying. It makes me mad too.
I heard one girl had her baby in a toilet at school!
I think that is the problem. They are so young and afraid of the stigma and getting into trouble with their parents.
They need to face up to what they have done. I totally agree with you!
They have that law here in FL too, but women still dump their babies. Sickening.

Does this mean that you are not tired of men having unprotected sex with women, and you are not tired of them walking away from their responsibility? Should men "wake up" and stop thinking only about themselves as well? Surely, there are choices. What is your input on the behavior of some of these irresponsible men who impregnate females and walk away? Exactly what is your input?

It's wrong and sick indeed.
But I think these individuals aren't thinking clearly and are probably suffering from a mental illness. They should still be punished of course, and it's not an excuse, I'm just saying that these people don't think like we do.
