I bought a 56 Size Trek 1500 Race Alpha Aluminum (SLR) yesterday. I measured Frame 56 has a 17" long "Handlebar". Unfortunately, I am 5’7”. I must go back for a frame size 54. (Frame 56 is too big for me)

The problem for Frame Size 54 is the handlebar size is only 16”. Is there any way to extend the handlebar at least one more inch to 17” for the Frame 54?

I am mountain bike rider and new to race bike, so small handle bar causing problem for me to hold it.

The shop can easily replace the handle bar with a wider one. Just ask them.

Typically, road bikes measure the handlebars in cm. I have extremely wide shoulders and bought a 48cm set of bars. Go to your local bike shop and go look at some handle bars. Typical is 44cm, but you can get in increments of 2cm up or down. Also you can get different stems to adjust front/back and up/down position of the handlebar. You may also want to check out the position of the seat to make sure your not pushed too far forward or backwards.
Good Luck, Cheers

Swap out your bars for something more comfortable. Go to your local shop and have them fit you. They can help you choose bars and a stem that will fit your geometry. The great thing about bicycles is that once you have a frame that fits you can basically swap out your components until the bike it perfect for your geometry.

Good luck!
