I just heard it before, what do you think of it? It's pronounced Eh-Leh-Nee. Do you thinks it pretty?

In Macedonian, Elena is a name and means "Deer". Eleni is plural and means "Deers".

It's a pretty sound, and the name has a proud history, but I can't get past the fact that to my mind it means "this year" (Welsh), as another answerer pointed out. That's what springs to mind every time I hear it! I prefer the name Eleri (same intonation), which is a legendary Welsh name from the word "elus", meaning kind.

Yes its a very beautiful ancient (and modern) Greek name. The english equivalent is Helen (so the Helen of Troy was Eleni). In case you don't know the Greek spelling is Ελένη.
