Sad to say, but you professer is right. If your man does not want to be around your mother, most likely he doesn't want to be around you. If he doesn't respect your mother, he probably won't respect you. If he doesn't like your mother's cooking, he probably doesn't like your cooking. I'd go with a guy who treated your mother very good. I don't want a guy who disobeys my mother's commands...he might not pick up the kids from school if I told him to...think about the future and the present...the past is in the past...How would he treat my mom?? Ask yourself that question over and over

I sounds good in theory but I have found that a lot of times in my own life it is not. I have dated guys who were so respectful of me and treated their moms like crap, and vise versa. But I think that it is probably true for most guys. I wouldn't say it is written is stone though.

Moms are women so how a boy treats his mom is like how a boy treats another woman.

I WISH I WOULD HAVE LISTENED TO THAT ADVICE WHEN I WAS YOUNGER.....
long story short, while dating, my hubby would argue with his mom for HOURS on end. sometimes I would end up sitting in the other room waiting for them to get done yelling at one another. He resented her and still resents her although they don't live together.
I wish I would have listened to that advice about observing how a man interacts with his mother.

You could do worse for a gauge. I also say for men and women watch how your companion treats your server in a restaurant, or a clerk in a store. Rude and demanding there with "lesser people" is a big red flag for me with someone.

nope would not say it holds true for all cause i once had a b/f that treated his mother wonderfully and treated his g/f like crap. so it does not hold true for all men with moms .

I think he is right as well. But if he is too much of a mommas boy you may never get much of a chance to find out.
